Trailer “clunk”

Tow bar probably making the noise.  There are a number of after market fixes to tighten the tow bar in the receiver

Sounds to me like air in the brake lines.

I don’t think it’s that as I feel a couple inches of movement before the clunk.

 

i did a search in here and on bbc and it’s either 1) normal 2) low fluid 3) air in the system or 4) bad master cylinder.

 

i added a little fluid today.  Will see tomorrow if it still clunks.  If so, will try to bleed.

Could also be a bad shock in the actuator, even though new.

On any trailer where I have felt the “clunk” is too loud, it has always been the towbar in the receiver as mentioned.  I use this. Took away the clunk on my 2019.

Add fluid. Pull the boat to the road. Remove the electric plug (disengages the back up solenoid). Pull forward, than back up, loading the master cylinder. Do this several times. I have found it takes the clunk out and removes the play between the two.

A small clunk is pretty normal from what I’ve seen. Ive had 3 new boats in 4 years and everyone of them did it. When you take off from a stop with a decent amount of acceleration I always feel that faint … thud… I’ve also loaded the trailer up the hill once and witness the brake actuator/ neck walk out as it bled off its pressure. Was a pretty intresting thing to see happen live. I would be its normal what your feeling plus a bit of play in your reciever/ pin.
