Couple of notes here.1. I remove the wheels at least once a year to check the brake pads and look at the seals. I replace the lug nuts and always use anti-sieze on the threads since they get dunked a lot. Torque to 105 ft-lbs.2. The easiest way to jack the thing up is this. First, jack the trailer up at home using a floor jack or whatever. Jack it up to give you at least 1-2″ of clearance for the tire. Now measure from the axle to the ground. Cut a piece of 4×4 that long. I then use my band saw to round the end in one direction without shortening the overall length. Cut some small notches in the same direction so that it will have some bite. Cut a small notch in the other end. 3. To fix a flat, take that 4×4 and put the notched end against the axle with the rounded/notched end down. Pull the trailer forward a foot or so. That rounded end will dig into the ground lifting the trailer. It will be completely stable since it is held in place by your truck. Once the tire is changed, you can go either direction to lower the trailer and pick up the block. Someone makes these things if you prefer to buy them. I once saw one in a Bass Pro store. This is cheaper and actually works better since it is customized for your trailer.Whenever I get new tires, whether trailer, truck or wifes car, first thing I do when I get home is break ALL of the lug nuts free, one at a time, anti-sieze them, then torque them to 105 ft-lbs. I have, on occasion, had to use a 24″ breaker bar even though a tire store will swear they torque by hand. Bull. My son had a Firestone store actually stretch two studs so that we could not remove them. Went back, made em replace all 20 studs. They tried the “we didnt do this, you must have done it at home, it was like that when we worked on it.” Told em “In that case, HOW did you get the wheel off to replace the tire? Fix it now, or fix it after the judge orders you to and imposes damages…” Some places have impact wrenches with an adjustable clutch to set torque.
