We have used automotive tires for over 25 years. We do and have offered trailer tires, and the tag was made for trailer tires.

Dealer recommended Goodyear Marathons for my 95 tandem axel last year. Price for four was $325 mounted from “Big O”. LOZman

Maxxis trailer tires are also top notch………. My first BC was a new 89 Sabre…”Turbo Plus” tires were on it. Went to Goodyear Eagles after that for my second set. Firestones on my new 97 Pantera II. Runnin a fresh set of Maxxis myself and I really like the way they ride and support the trailer with boat loaded. Not to bad on price either !

II WOULD SUGGEST GOODYEAR, BF GOODRICH, FIRESTONE, BRIDGESTONE,OR KELLY WHICH IS MADE IN THE GOODYEAR PLANT.MOST PICKUPS COME WITH GOODYEAR OR BRIDGESTONE,SO THEY SHOULD BE OK FOR ABOAT TRAILER I WOULD THINK…..I HAVE ALWAYS PREFERRED A NAME BRAND TIRE…I JUST THINK THEY LOOK MUCH BETTER THAN SAY A OFFBRAND…PROBABLY NOT ALOT OF DIFFERENCE THO..

They were a standard equipment tire whereas the upgrade was probably Firestone Indy 500s back then.

Unless you goto light truck tires(dont) just about everything is truly 4 plies with different load ratings. Certainly more sidewall support in trailer Tires but advantages to offset cost do not appear to be present I believe in bcb eyes. There are “ply ratings” floating around but its still 4 plies just different load ratings. My coopers in 3 years went have been from pick wick to Oroville in Cali, to Mead, and across the Mohave twice. No issues. I had a blow out on one of my cooper tires about 2.5 hrs after I purchased my new to me Puma 11 days ago. Fortunately the local cooper dealer had 4 of the cobras in stock and they prorated the new tire which saved me some $ over retail. Well see how the others hold up. BCB is no longer using the Cooper Cobra Radial GT due to availability issues. I believe they are using Master Craft Avengers GT which is made by cooper. Any tire should work, but I would stick w/ what BCB recommends. They may be changing tires again for the 2013 model year; well see.

Actually the tires changed last year to another Cooper private label and that isthe Mastercraft Avenger, these are same exact tire construction as the Cooper Cobra.

Ive stuck my foot in this pickle jar before , and will refrain from technicalities about tires , but I will say , no matter what tires you run , be sure to run them at the maximum recommended cold pressure . — They will run cooler and last longer when properly inflated , as well as roll easier , which means better economy . — Mark

I have Goodyear marathons on my trailer, and have not had any issues at all, they are 5 yrs old, no cracks or tread problems so far.

Maxxis UE-168 is the best 15″ tire Ive been able to find. Higher load range, comes in a 215/70, and has a higher speed rating than youll care to run. Its a commercial LT highway tread tire that is used for RVs and trailers in every country other than the US. I paid a little more for mine, but they tow well and dont heat up. After around 90 miles at 75mph – theyre no warmer than my truck tires. I like these a lot. Well worth the extra cost.
