Transom saver question for BCB

Make that two of us. I measured today and found I need about 36 inches as far as length goes. BCB recommends the longer full length saver from what Ive read. Im guessing its because that will result in pipe within pipe most of the bar length for added strength but that is just a guess. Got about $50 in BPS credits so going to order a new swivel-ez saver. Then do the mod one of the posters described involving cutting about half the rollor end to prevent light damage. Then some bunker carpet to prevent sticking to the motor. Fun fun fun…. Hey, better to learn it hear then through trial and error!

I plan to pick up Sabre Day Tripper in about 2 weeks from the plant. Do I need to bring a transom saver when I come? What size?

I had a swivel ease on my 06CougarFTD. I didnt need to cut the roller end to keep it from hitting the light bar on the trailer. Guess Ill get it and see if it works on my 09 trailer. I never dreamed that the lock n stow could cause that engine bracket to break off. Makes sense though if you think about it. CatsRus…I doubt youd need to bring your own transom saver…Im pretty sure BCB will provide one but then Ive not picked a boat up from the factory…just from a dealer. Transom savers, fire extinguisher, paddle, towline and throwable cushion are not a part of the boat package. Also on those transom savers, cut the end piece of the U on the transom saver where it goes over the roller off to prevent crushing your light bar in the center. You will notice this when you go to put it on if you pay attention. If not you will punch out the center light. Not a big deal though you will be a two light bar then.

I have punched my light out before I realized this with the saver. I cut the u bracket and then colored the underside black so if I seen the black I knew it was up side down. By putting the black down, It looks better while installed. One other question, With a Hydraulic Jack Plate, where do you travel with it while going down the road? I have seen many with it all the way up but doesnt that create more of a load and “Flexing” on the transom?

That does not really add much pressure if you use a full length toter. Not a major deal, though there is another thought on those hydraulic jackplates, that they are prone to failure. If you travel with the plate up and there is a motor or other failure, your stuck. If you travel with it in the running position and a wiring or motor issue happens, then your fishing still. I trimmed one side as recommended but apparently not quite enough. I damaged the middle light so it no longer works. Can I replace bulb/lens or do I have to replace the whole bar. I checked parts section on BCB but didnt see lens/bulb as a choice. Just how many inches should I have removed?

You go without the center light, or replace the whole light bar.
