Bad breaker ?

I work in sales and Im not the best at knowing what to look for. On a 24v system should I be seeing ~24v on both breakers?

The prop does not turn at any switch setting?Measure voltage from the terminal to ground when reset the breaker.If voltage is present, turn the TM on an see if the breaker opens.If the breaker flips open you probably have a problem with your TM, but you can replace the breaker and try that first.Will not hurt having a new breaker.

The TM does not work at any setting. I pulled the bow panel and I am getting 13v between the red and black but 0v between the white and black. At the battery end I am getting 24v on both sides of the red breaker and 13v on both sides of the white breaker.

Possibly the speed control but I would guess something in the motor itself. I would get it to a good TM shop. Generally a switch will either work or not. Oh, take the plug apart and make sure the wires are tight, mine loosened and the motor worked intermittently until the plug caught on fire.

Sounds like the rheostat speed switch…possible bad spots in it.

Call John at Jones Trolling Motor 870 773-3474 and he will walk you through what is wrong and the fix. No one is more helpful and better to work with than John. He diagnosed my issue within seconds.

I figured out the problem. One of the 50amp breakers was bad. There was 37 volts at the trolling motor plug in. When I turned on the trolling motor, it would drop to 7 volts. All three batteries tested a little over twelve volts individually. So I replaced the breaker one at a time. When I replaced the one one the rear passenger side battery, the trolling motor worked well. When I took it out this past weekend, that breaker tripped if I had to turn the motor up high. It reset fine but did trip several times. Any more suggestions?

In time all trolling motors pull more amperage and while this could be the case we think it may just be a breaker issue. If the me popping is the one you replaced we are suspect it is just a bit lighter than it needs to be.
