Youd think this would be simple. I opened the directions to the new male plug and it said, for a straight 24v trolling motor, red goes in “24” hole and black goes in “-” hole. I did this, tightened everything down, plugged her in……no power. Boy, Im getting “right” about at that moment. After taking a short break, I decided to open up the plug on the Minn Kota I just took off. Inside this plug, the red is to “12” and the black is to “-“. I changed my new plug, even though that was against the directions, and wa-la, power. This is the original trolling motor, so this must have been done at the factory. This must have something to do with the female receptrical being a 24/36 plu-in (even though this is and always has been a 24v system) and the trolling motor straight 24….both of which are factory installed. Seemed very strange that the plug off the old was wired not in agreement with the product directions. At least now Ive got it fixed…..I hope.
