2006 Classic, Motor Guide Digital 85lb thrust I beleive. When I push the reset button nothing happens. There is no resistance, no clicking etc. Should the button lock in place once I push it in? I will check with a test light tomorrow and see if I am getting power to the front of the boat. The jumper wire does not have a breaker only the positive wire at the battery. Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the help. What Amp fuse is on the TM Batteries? As well as the cranking battery. I think I will go ahead and buy some spares to carry with me. Thanks again.
jrdodd, they are 50 on the trollers and 20 on the main line harness. Check the size in your rig. Please be sure you are properly depressing the button on the end of the breakers. You should not need to carry extras. BCB
I depressed the button all the way in but it just keeping poping back out as soon as I release it. Does that sound right
First you should make sure you have a power issue… The thought of using a test light was good but I believe an 85lb Thrust is 24v and that means that 12v test will only light for second and burn out. Let start with the basic. 1) can you turn the prop on the TM. If NO it in the TM 2) Does the TM motor have continuous on if so what happens when switched to that IF Yes you may have a bad foot switch 3) Is there power at the front of the boat. Voltmeter would be good. check for 24 volts a plug (4 may be easier to do for you than 3) 4) I believe the TM circuit breaker is an Inline off the TM batteries check for voltage on both sides of it. if NO on either side go to 5 if no on one side kicked breaker or bad breaker. (if not and automatic breaker) 5) Check the connections batteries and batter voltage for shorted batteries.
Disconnect the trolling motor and then try resetting the breaker. If it dies not reset, then something is definitely up and you will need help.
Ok I used a test light to check from the battery to the breaker and that is good. I checked on the other side of the breaker and that is good. I will check up from tonight and see if I am getting power to the motor. I imagine I am but I guess I will do a process of elimination. Is there a way to check the switch on the trolling motor to see if it is bad. The motor will not work if I switch it to continuous on. I will tinker with it some tonight. Any ideas of things to look for is appreciated. Thanks Jason
You can never have to much power, its nice to have when needed!!! SAMBAYOU BANDIT
82lb digital, hands down. Quieter, stronger, and did i mention quieter ?
Either will work. The 82lb thrust is probably a Tour Edition and will have a metal foot pedal, metal head, better cable system, and better mounting bracket. All which may make the difference in the two and the price. I would opt for the better troller if I planned on using a lot and keeping for a while.
FOR AN EXTRA 100.00 I WOULD OPT FOR A 36 VOLT……LIKE SAM SAID, U CAN NEVER GET ENUF POWER……
I RAN A SABRE FOR YEARS WITH A MG BRUTE 65LBS AND IT DID A GOOD JOB FOR THE SIZE BOAT. THIS PAST YEAR I WENT TO AN 80LB ON MY 96 EYRA AND LIKE EVERYONE SAYS…….YOU MAY NOT EVER NEED IT, BUT IT WILL BE THERE WHEN YOU DO……….96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Is this a Pinpoint Ready model with transducer in the motor head? BCB
the transducer is on the motor head
Check the 24volt strap inside the trolling motor plug. If the strap is loose it will heat up and lose connection. Since the motor was under load when the problem happened thats where I would look first. Make sure all connections are tight. Also check the battery connections. Weird things can happen with a loose connection…
