Trolling motor transducer mounting?

Straight up the shaft in case you needtoraise and lower it for shallow or rough water. Do not wrap it.

Leave a loop at the point the trolling motor shaft rotates so there will be enough cable for your motor to turn from left to right. Brian hash

Thanks, do I run the cable all the way up to the head unit of the trolling motor and down the foot control cable and then to the fish finder or is there a different way?

Just a tip for ya. run the cable up the back side of the shaft. Use plenty of cable-ties with the ends of the ties also on the back side of the shaft. this will help protect the cable from getting snaged or pinched when fishing timber. I also had plenty of cable ties holding the cable to the hose clamp that is holding the transducer in place for the same reason.

I have my cable running up to the head and then down the foot control cable. Works great. Txmrbass has given a great tip for cable placement as well. This might not be for everyone, but I wrapped my cable ties in black electrical tape to keep them from snagging on things. Good luck. KentKent Charles 2002 Pantera Classic & 200 Yamaha VMax

This is just a thought on running the transducer cable. I to have an 06 Sabre and am considering putting a hole in the plate where the TM plugs in, and running the transducer cable underneath to come out where the finder is sitting. Should be pretty clean and less clutter in the recessed tray. You also wouldnt have the transducer cable running up to the head and down the TM cable. I just need to find a “clam shell vent” to match the one by the finder. Not sure how it will all come together yet. Still need to exchange my existing skimmer cable. I can send some pics. when Im done if youd like. Just got off the phone with a buddy… His comes up the shaft and breaks off at about 3/4 way up. Then goes to the mount a little ways and then off to the head unit. Hes sending me some pics. tonight. Ill post a link to the pics. – Jason

Jason, Thanks for the pictures. I would like to know when and how you run the cable through to the fishfinder like you said. If you can let me know how to do it cleanly i would appreciate it. Thanks, Sal

Sal, If you use cable ties, Be careful not to pull them down to tight. You could damage the transducer cable. I prefer using electrical tape. Also when running the cable up the T/M shaft. take notice to the notch behind the clamp that holds the shaft to the mount. There is a space for the transducer cable to go through. Ed
