tundra…help

I was thinking of buying a 2006 tundra and wanted to know how the performed and pulled. I was also wandering about the reliability and service needs, so please if anyone can help me i would appreciate it, thanks guys

I own a 06 Toyota Tundra and I pull a Sabre. Honestly, my truck lacks in the passing gear. Also, I have to punch the gas to go up the Mississippi River bridge. This is the only truck I have owned since I have been pulling the Sabre so I really cant compare it to anything else. Now I have owned Ford, Dodge, and Chevy trucks and the Toyota absolutly seems to be the best made..ex-quiet,comfortable,smooth. It has never givin me any troubles besides the lack of midrange power.

I drive a 2001 Toyota Tundra. Ive never had a bit of service problems out of it. It has pulled all of my Cats in the past few years and pulls with no problem. My fishing buddies have Dodge and Chevy trucks and I feel that my Toyota pulls better than the Dodge and equally as well with the Chevy. My Tundra is smaller, too, then the new ones on the market so it is not an exact comparison with the newer ones. I hope this helps. Pull my Puma with a 08 Tundra extended cab. It has the larger V8, 6 speed auto transmission and 6 bed. Pulls the boat great, but the fuel milage suffers greatly with the boat in tow. Avg. milage w/boat is around 13 and without is around 19-20 on the highway. City without boat is around 14-15. Hope this helps.

Bought this 2006 4.7 new in Dec of 2005. I have owned every other brand and had a 2003 Silverado prior to this one. The Tundra is by far the best truck Ive owned.Ive used this truck to haul a PIII down from Indiana and all over the southeast and an Rboat 391V from Tennessee to Georgia and down to Florida on vacation. This truck had every bit as much power as the Chevy, and easily tows my “new to me” 06 Sabre. As for maintenance, I have 38,000 miles and other than tires, only routine service has been needed. I have a Sequoia which is obviously the same. The truck is unreal. Never had a problem what so ever and the V8 can pull anything. Honestly I have got new tires and regular oil changes otherwise havent spent a dime on repairs….not a dime. (55,000 Miles) Good Luck

I bought an 08 Tundra back in May and it is a heck of a truck so far. It is the most torqued up, powerful half ton truck I have ever driven. It has a ton fo torque over the entire power curve, and it doesnt have much swerve or roll at all when cornering. The ride is great, and I feel like it is very well built. The frame is done right for towing and hauling, and the transmission is built with a lot of the same fudnamentals as most 3/4 tons. The larger drivetrain and the 10 inch ring gear to handle all of that torque. It pullls great and you dont even feel anything behind you when towing. So far I am very impressed with it. Plus it looks pretty sweet with a Cat behind it!

I pull my boat with an 04 4.0 ranger. This has been one of the best towing vehicles I have owned. No it isnt going to “stretch the tongue” if you punch it, but it pulls at interstate speeds just fine and gets decent miles-per-gallon towing. But the main thing I like is that it is “stiff”. Rides a little “solid” but when towing the boat doesnt push the truck around in wind or on roads with some sort of “tracking” issue. My previous truck was a Dodge Dakota with the 5.2 V8. My ranger handles hills and accelerates just as well, although it rides a bit stiffer. Family member has a Tundra, same year I think. Weve pulled my boat behind his truck a few times. It is no more powerful than my ranger when passing, that I can detect. But it rides a _lot_ better normally. But when towing it is way “too soft” for my tastes. The boat can push it around fairly good, as can wind, 18 wheeler turbulance, etc. My dad used to tow his boat with a 1972 Chrysler New Yorker and it felt the same way, only perhaps a bit worse. Thats my $.02… I am more interested in handling as I want things to track straight, so that a small gust wont swing the trailer out and push the truck in the opposite direction…2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
