yes I am looking at the Helix 9 DI / GPS would it work ok on the bow with trolling motor transducer?

The Helix DI units are very good and no problem using them at the bow. Two suggestions for you. Firstly, the Helix 10 DI G2N is a couple of hundred dollars more than the Helix 9 DI G2N, but, although they are the same physical size, the 10 has a bit larger screen but a much higher pixel count and therefore much better resolution. If it were me, I would spend the extra couple of hundred dollars for the ten inch unit and it is still in your price range. Secondly, for the trolling motor, if you dont unpackage the transom mount transducer that comes in the box (XNT 9 DI T), you can send it back to HB and they will exchange it for the trolling motor transducer (XTM 9 DI 25 T) which has better shielding to help reduce the possibility of interference from the troller.

Whats the best mount for the bow with this unit?

My answer already given: I like em as low as possible. Big TM on port side. Big depth finder on a 1+ mount on the starboard side. Not a lot of room left to climb in the boat to launch for us older guys. I removed my front mount, screwed the bracket that came with the 9″ HB directly into the TM basin, and have been happy ever since. Can see it just as well as before, dont hit it on an underhand cast across the front of the bow, etc…2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200
