V6 Eco Boost

Id look really good at the V8s in the 2015 (if youre getting new) ford trucks… Youd be surprised at the MPG they are getting and, as always, towing with a V8 is going to be much nicer…If not, try to find you one with the non-eco V6… I bought one back last december, a 2013 crew cab and it has no trouble at all pulling the Sabre, and Im getting 19mpg on average between interstate and in-town. 18-18.5 if I stay around town, and if I burn a whole tank on the interstate I can get 21 easy.Towing the boat, if its hilly I get around 14.5 but if its flat I can get upwards of 16. 13 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods

I have a 2014 ecoboost. I have owned every v8 pickup truck thats on the market and there is not ONE that has the pulling power that the v6 ecoboost has. I have pulled my 10,000 pound bobcat with it 30 times or better and it pulls it with no problems whatsoever. When I buy another one next year it will be another ecoboost. This is the first ford I have ever owned and thats all Ill have from here on out. Im extremely impressed with the ecoboost

I had a 2013 F-150 with the 8 cylinder, and I now have a 2014 F-150 with the ecoboost. The ecoboost tows much better, has more torque, and is more fun to drive. Next one will also be an ecoboost.

Not sure what the experience polaris had with an EcoBoost, but mine tows my Puma incredibly well. Compared to the Tundra V-8 it replaced, there is no comparison — the V-6 EcoBoost tows much better. Lower rpms, better gas mileage, more power. Cant say the EcoBoost tows better than anything out there because I havent towed with everything but if I had to replace my truck it would be with another EcoBoost.

I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Hemi with an 8 speed. Right now with a mix of city/highway in getting 20.2MPG. 70mph down the freeway its at 1700rpm. Pulls the boat like nothing is back there. Best 1500 truck that I have had.

We were all GM guys and we all have Fords in our truck fleet and a few home vehicles now also. We also have GM trucks in our family vehicles and both do fine. Though the Jeep question brought this up and we have had excellent success with the ecoboost.We pull everything from a 219 TFX Yar-Craft on down with them. BCB

I pull a Puma FTD with a 13 Ecoboost. Like others are saying, pulls better than any V8 Ive been in. Low end torque is awesome and fun to drive. I get around 14 MPG pulling the Cat 75+ down the interstate and average 19 empty. On 2 lane highways at 60 MPH, Ive seen 22 MPG average. I havent drove the new 2.7L Eco. Mine is the 3.5L. You can still get a 3.5 though.

I have a 2013 F150 with the 5.0 V8. It pulls just fine, but the 3.5 eco does have more low end torque to pull heavy loads. In the hills where I live, the 5.0 does better on fuel slightly. Whereas in flat country the eco probably does better. I get around 15-16 in the city and 19-20 Hwy at 75mph average. At 55 mph it will do 22-23mpg. Buy what you have confidence in. Ive been very happy with the 5.0. My primary reason I got it was that it was almost 3K cheaper when I bought because there were more rebates on the 5.0 than the eco. I can live with a little less torque for 3K! But, I dont think they rebate the 5.0 near as much anymore. All pricing equal, Id probably buy an ecoboost. Good luck with your purchase.

I am an Ol hotrodder and believe more cubic inches is the way to go. I got 14 1/2 mpg pulling through northern AR a couple of weeks ago with my V8 Silverado. That suits me fine. A friend of mine is a mechanic at a Ford dealership and he told me if I bought one trade it before the warranty runs out, so I steered clear of it. I am sure there are 2 sides to the story of Eco Boost problems. They will probably all have similar available soon, but that is just my opinion.Dan
