Warning about a website – UPDATE
I hope this isnt "out of place" for this forum, but I have been having a time with an online vendor for fishing gear that I thought might save someone else similar headaches. I want to lead off with stating that Im all about supporting the local shops as much as possible, but I ordered a bulk spool of line that I simply couldnt locate locally on 7/13 from www.buytackle.com, which is also tied directly into another website www.fishclick.com. During the ordering process (my first order from this vendor) I specified "DO NOT BACKORDER" and sent the order. My credit card was charged almost immediately, so I figure its all good and the item is in stock. Nothing seems out of place at the time. All last week nothing else happens, so I call their customer service # and speak with a polite and helpful fellow concerning the status of my order. He checks and seems to think that only one spool may be in stock, and it should ship the next day. Nothing happens the next day, so I make it a point to call back that afternoon. Same guy (i think) answers. He then puts me on hold for a bit to check with some other dept. about my order. He comes back on and says that the item isnt even in stock. I request a credit back to my visa card at that point, and he politely agrees to issue a notice to the billing dept. Okay, now thats taken care of...........not. Im unconcerned until this past Tuesday rolls around and nothing has happened. So, I call the customer service # again and speak with the polite gentleman concerning the fact that Im getting a tad out of sorts about this whole ordeal. He agrees that something should be happening, and checks with billing again. He comes back on and states that credit will be issued the following morning to my account. I thank him and hang up. You already know what happened the following day ----- nothing. Same today, so I call again when I get home from work. ....................now I simply get a recording that says "this number is no longer in service." Ill eventually get credit back through Visa to my account, but now Ive got to wait a month before Visa will process this claim. The above mentioned websites looked very legit, and Ive done quite a bit of online ordering over the years with virtually no problems whatsoever until now. Anyway, thought you guys might like to know this, and if anyone has any info about these clowns Im interested in hearing about it. John UPDATE: The phone was working again today. Why I got the above recording yesterday, I do not know, but talked with same fellow again. He assured me that credit was in process, but may take several days for me to see any activity on my end? Maybe this is going to work out better than it looked yesterday. Well wait and see, and Ill try to remember to update this again when/if they actually do what theyre saying. Bottom line is that the phone may have been out of service instead of totally disconnected? The guy said theyd had a lot of phone problems? Thanks for the concerns Judd and Elwood.
