2017 Basscat Cougar AE PS fuel tank weeps about a dimes worth of fuel onto the top of the tank every once in a while. I have replaced the fitting for the fuel that goes to the diverter valve a few years ago and per Richard in warranty applied sealant around the bolt that comes out of the tank. Yesterday I filled that tank up, went out, used the other tank and when I came home I noticed the fuel on the top by the valve that I had installed. No wet fuel lines, the valve was not wet, and around the bolt was not wet. Only spot was by the valve on the top. Attached is a photo. The fuel was to the right of the valve. Do I apply sealant around the gasket on the bottom of the valve, attempt to tight the nut below the valve or ??
Condensation is the most typical way that water enters a fuel tank. A difference in temperature between the tank’s interior and exterior leads to the formation of water droplets in the headspace, which “sweat” into the fuel.
