The pedal basin cover is designed to fit into the cut out area so it is flat instead of recessed. Some people may prefer a sitting position rather than standing (like the crankbait crowd in Carolina, or the angler who mainly fishes for crappie). This lets them move the tm control further back. When I used hand control, I built a frame of 1x1s and mounted the contol box down in the basin, and then could stand without leaning or stepping up. And, some people still prefer to stand in an awkward position. Anchor reins are the pulley style ropes that you can connect an anchor, release anchor line out, then when done, pull anchor up, detach from rope, and rope goes back into hidden area(I think, if I remember correctly).
