How many years did you get out of your 29 series? I have a 07 Classic/200 Opti and Im looking to go to 29 or 31 (just got my larger aluminum tray from BCB) but my single bank charger only 2 years old will not work on AGM so Im looking at flooded or GM. I do not have a PP, tournament fish much, or have newer power eating electronics so Im thinking 29 or 31 series but flooded. I know its old school (hey Im old) but I have never had issues with flooded batteries unless a charger failed or I had to small of a battery to begin with (27 series dual purpose). I do plug in chargers within half hour to an hour after I get off the water which I think helps. My first 27 series (Autozone marine) lasted 4-5 seasons but expired when charger died over the winter and I didnt know. Only got 2 season out of 2nd exact same battery when I was starting to get alarms which dealer found were for low voltage. Alarms only sounded at idle or no wake speeds. Motor always started however. Last year started having a problem with LCX-27 shutting off when I started engine sometimes. Again no other issues but I but do not want to take a chance getting stranded so going to replace the battery with something larger. Dealer, Merc, and BCB all recommend cranking vs. dual purpose though Id think the dual purpose would handle running electronics, live wells, etc. better. Mine have always provided enough juice to start motor even on cold mornings but it starts pretty quick 99.5% of the time. What type of problems were you having with the 29?
