What kind of numbers does a Puma put up with a 250 Yamaha?

My 07 Puma runs 74 to 76 mph constant with me and my partner loaded with gear. near 80 one person light gear

They run comparable to the other brands on top end.

80+ if set up right. My friend has had two (08 and 09 models) and both run over 80. Hes using a 27 T Series prop.

Thats all I know other than it has a hydraulic jack plate. Hes tried other props and the Yamaha prop performs best for him.

I am currently using and 05 Cougar with a 250 Yammi on it. It also has the 27 T prop on it. Slow coming out of the hole but phil is right. Will flat out role on top end. I have seen 81 mph with 2 people, half gas and full tackle load. Believe there is a little more also with a little tweaking. I am in the process of setting this boat with a 26 Trophy to see what I can do with it. Thought this thing would hit the rev limiter with it so I dropped the motor first time out with it. Was wrong, although I like the way it comes out of the hole now and mid range punch is better. I lost some on top end and still have some left as far as hitting the rev limiter. Top end was only about 76 with about 5600 RPMs. Just got done raising the motor back up yesterday. Hope to turn a few more RPMs and increase the top end just a little bit. Will see next week when I hit the water !! Good Luck

Those older Yamaha set ups may also gain some with a Fury on some. Though a Yamaha propeller works very well and it is not a tremendous gain.

I have a 250 series 2 on a 08 cougar and it runs 77 constant but did break 80 the other day with two people full of gear and less than a half a tank of gas no bad for 100 degree weather

This one has the Seies 2 Power Head on it. Whole rig only has 80 hours, power head has about 30 to 35. Put on some time last year.
