what would best prop for a 99 jaguar with 225 opti with 6 ” power lift manual jack plate. Thanks guys , Jay

25 Pro Series Yamaha 3 Blade was and probably is the overall best prop on that application. It is still our suggestion. If you want to try something else we would try a 25 Tempest Merc prop, or a 24 Trophy. BCB

Would help if you supplied a little more information. What prop, how many RPMs, how fast, hole shot and maybe about where the jack plate is set. I would think either a 25 or 26 trophy would be a very good prop for this rig. Maybe the same in a Tempest. Good Luck Joey

Sorry, This is my first Bass Boat . I guess I need help on those issues too if you would. Im just looking for all around performance I guess. I dont know what prop is on their now there is no stamping any where on it . But I do know its a Cabelas prop and it has no exhaust ports on it. The hole shot sucks with full tanks. The bow shoots straight up , it just seems like it takes awhile too plane out. Thanks again , Jay

You may be able to pull the prop off and look inside the hub. I would think a 225 Opti/ Jaguar will probably need a 25 Pitch. Whatever you decide, you would be FAR better off getting a Merc prop, either the Tempest 3blade or Trophy 4blade. They both have a PVS plug system, that allows the vent holes to be plugged in various sizes, thus helping with performance (holeshot). If you have a friend or local shop that could let you try one out would be best. The Jag was the heaviest 20 footer, and with both tanks full(52 gal of gas), you will not get a great holeshot especially with a 225, so you may would opt for the 4 blade for better load carrying/ bow lift. If at all possible, can you get buy with less fuel? Im agreeing with JnP on this one. Personally, I would go with a 25″ Trophy 4-blade, and you will probably need to fully plug at least two and probably all 4 PVS holes to get the hole-shot, especially with water in the live-wells, fuel tanks full and tackle. The hole-shot will be a little slow, but once on plane, the Jaguar will ride great and run like a scalded cat… Gary Hollander basscat@lakemail.com

It maybe things you allready know, but I had to learn them too. So Im not trying to treat you like a dumby. Make sure you have your motor trimmed all the way down when you punch it from standing still. Once it gets up on plane start bumping the trim up as you get going — its a feel thing.
