Can someone tell me if the Sears Die Hard Platinum 31m series will fit all 3 of my 2008 Cougar FTD trays?Jmtfrisco, Texas
Most 31s will fit but some require some modification (aka grinding) to the top of the bracket for the posts to fit through the top. I am not familiar with that particular battery so I cant say for sure but they probably will with the motto “where there is a will there is a way”. Judd Lasiter PS – I hope things are going well Mike.
Some do require some tweaking to the upper bracket on the dual post models. Though most fit fine on newer styles of trays. The older trays have some metal left that can contact areas and has to be removed. BCB
I have those batteries in my aluminum double trays for the troller in my P4 and they fit fine with no modification. I dont have one in my single cranking tray, but I know itll fit. So far they have been very good batteries. They are HEAVY and just close your eyes and write the check when you buy them…
I just put one in the cranking tray on my 08 Puma. The battery would not sit down flush in the tray. The battery also pushed the bracket posts/all thread out a little and I had to enlarge the holes on the upper bracket. Was a pain having to keep fitting the battery in and out until I got it right. Those mothers are heavy.
The battery should fit in the tray bottom fine. You removed the end caps in the tray to make room for 24 to 31 series cases we assume? Those are removeable for just such a reason.
Yes, I removed the caps/spacers. I have the black two part trays. Wouldnt sit down flat. The Sears battery flares about 1/2 from the bottom.
I appreciate the comments guys. Got them in just fine and I DID close my eyes and write the check! Judd, I am doing good. Havent heard from you in awhile. Still want to touch base sometime and do some fishing and “tweak” the Cougar a bit. She is performing well for me thus far. I am really enjoying the “grown up” kitty ride and space. Good hearing from you Judd! MikeJmtfrisco, Texas
