WON BASS US OPEN

I didnt do well fishing, but I didnt finish last. Fished all 3 days without a AAA ( co-angler). The tournament was a shared weight tournament, so I was at a disadvantage. There were 90 boats. Only 2 Basscats. Mine and one from Idaho. Got a lot of good comments on color and style. In prefish I gave rides to a couple of guys that didnt have boats. They were impressed with the ride. They had ridden in a lot of other boats in the past as co-anglers. Said mine was by far the best ride. Even though I am under powered by 25 hp. Interesting note. On day 2 I towed in one boat and picked up another co-angler in order to get him back to weigh in on time. Before I went back out to tow the boat, Brand x Rep threw two hats in my boat and said " next year drive one of these". I said I just towed in one of yours and Im on my way back out to get another one of yours. His reply, "must be the power its wont be my concern". As it turned out it was the wiring in one boat and the motor on the other one. I cant IMAGINE a BCB rep saying something like that. Another interesting thing. Both of the guys I gave rides to, are my age or older and getting ready to retire. They will be looking at BCB. Seriously...Day 2 I got DQed because I had checked in and didnt weigh my fish before I went back out to give the tow. The wind was starting to get serious and you know how brand x boats are in rough water. Especially without power. My fault, brain lapse. On day 3; a different brand was broke down. He said that he had been given the run around with problems he had with both his dealer and manufacturer. He asK me about my ride and that opened the door. It had been rough in the area he and I had been fishing, so I ask him how much water he had in his bilge. He said that he had run the pump off and on all day. I told him the only water in my bilge was from the ice chest and a couple of quick stops to avoid jet skiers. In closing The Cat performed flawlessly. The heat on the lake day 3 was 115 deg. although the finally report was 107.Martin PS for BCB. While the trend is to the younger fishermen, and I do agree with it, dont forget the old guys that are getting ready to retire. They have watched tournaments on TV or fished as co-anglers and now that they will have the time and hopefully the money to get serious. You could bill it as the geriatric package, softer seats and a rack for an oxgen bottle, as well as a pill box holder.
