Im sure they are just “Boating Rumors”, we all should know at this point that the sport boating, is not prone to a failure here and there. Yamaha Corp. has ALWAYS made top knotch product, they are very careful on their products, why do you think they let OMC and Merc test the DFI technology before them? Yamaha simply wants reliability and will not go around reliability just to get more speed or whatever. My favorite brand Evinrude is still thought of as being owned by OMC, are supposedly horrible motors, and yet Ive never had one break and as most know Ive personally sold 100s of ETECs…..I think people who feel threatened will try and deter people from trying something new. People still think the Verado is a gas guzzler and very expensive, the Gen 2 is simply a very nice motor and very powerful.. Enjoy your New SHO, and dont worry about what “others” say, they are just jealous……Sincerely, Brannon
