First: Bass Cat has never been a cookie cutter boat. That doesn’t offend us so don’t let it offend you.
As for the “ugly” comment, we are never going to see that end as most say that based on the older fin style designs of those original Pantera II and Sabre models pre 1999. The new round bodied Eyra led to today’s competitive designs. Though production was limited and led to the P3 and original Jaguar models. Followed by others and while those led visions of design, the ugly label won’t be ending in use.
Once any brand gets tagged, they forget to look at today’s models, it just becomes a stigma we have to live with. Building a cookie cutter would not end opinion, and only the product quality would rise any above that.
Presently the backorder is out about 10 to 16 weeks max, model dependent. The output was maxed almost 3 years back and we could not build enough boats at a time when sales were out almost 8 months from order date at one time. While the long wait times held back orders, the demand was still strong. In those last 30 months at one point our growth achieved a 20% per annual year market share gain. Until the facility maxed production and the market caught us, we were the strongest growing brand among bass boats. That can’t continue when more boats can’t be built, eventually the market caught us and we are only maintaining.
The company only has to achieve a 10% market share to reach maximum capacity in the new facility. They have already proven the company has more than enough demand to achieve this. In order do this
The Pantera Classic is not mainstream and has proven its demand exceeds expectations.
The Lynx is not mainstream and exceeded expectations, and continues to do so.
The Caracal is not mainstream and is exceeding our expectations, plus it is selling more 225 engines than most any other brand.
The Eyra was boat of the year when introduced and set the stage for designs to come and those now in the market. It was labeled a gorgeous boat and even then the ugly label follows us.
Before this the Jaguar built a solid reputation as “the” premium boat in the market.
The trolling recess was labeled a gimmick, till Angler’s tried it. Eventually the patent was allowed to expire and others jumped on the recess, just as they jumped on many other aspects.
Features like triangle lids and livewells are good, while removable hinges and more are time saving. We find it hard to believe anyone tripped on the 3/8” hinge elevation on the back deck. You simply don’t stride in step when your fishing inside a 7’ span. As for the Lynx it was always supposed to be the other direction and only the Prototype got the lids reversed. Either way actually would work the same however.
Most simply wont look strongly at the new product and a 1980’s Ranger 350 or 370 series does not represent the present product Ranger builds, in a 520L series. Good bad or indifferent, lower production more eyes to all our boats no matter the ages. People notice and retain a memory on older product. You notice a 1990’s Geo Metro, though overlook a hundred 1990’s Chevrolet Impala’s
We are growing and we will grow more with the plan going forward. There more than enough market for all and while your local anglers might have injections on those features and you obviously have developed an opinion, don’t let weigh in conversation between your bass club offend you. When you drop the throttle running out hard, then come back soft and dry, they do envy that.
