I had an I Pilot on my previous boat and loved it, I just had an I Pilot Link and Hummingbird 999 installed on my Sabre, I love it even more, I can set it to follow the shoreline with an ofset or you can set it to follow a conture line and it will stay on it. Like the other guys said if you are in a bunch of trees the cable steer is faster. I was never very good with cable steer so this is great for me. Most of my fishing now is on the main deck insted of up front on the nose of the boat. I also like the spot lock function to keep you on a specific location. There are a lot of good youtube videos on the web you can watch, or if you are in Central Illinois I will take you out for a demo. Good luck

You cant beat the Sherms mount, I also installed one on my Sabre with a HB 999, very easy and looks great.

Sure, I understand, that is still better than having to get the cord out of the compartment each time. The problem is in order to get the cord I have to remove the rear seat so I can get my arm into the compartment. I could open the compartment enough to vent the area and not have to remove the seat if I had the external plugin.

Hey thanks for the info, unfortunately I live in Illinois so I cant take you up on that ride. I havent decided on something like a Phelix or a tin boat yet but noticed a used Phelix in the area, I may go take a look at it. Thanks again, Tom

If I needed to buy a new pole holder I would get one of these. You just mount a plate to the deck then the holder fastens to the plate, it looks like a good set up. http://www.ezpoleholder.com/spyderlok.html. I already have a different kind so I cant justify buying another one. Hope this helps!

I have a 2008 Sabre and the foot pedal on the Ultrex just fits, it is tight because of the TM plug. Hope this helps, tight lines.

Hummingbird recommends unplugging the Ultrex when charging the batteries , I put a Minn Kota MKR-20 about one foot in front the plug because it is a pain to disconnect. Another option would be a disconnect on the batteries. I went with the MKR20 because it was an easier install for me. I havent used the Ultrex very much yet but I love it so far. I had a Terrova before it was a good motor but I like the Ultrex better IMHO. Good luck I dont think you will be disappointed.

I have an 08 Sabre that I made a grab bar for myself, best thing I ever did. The older I get the more I like it. I slipped and fell off a boat when I was younger and it hurt like H E L L now I cant imagine. I used a piece of 1″ black pipe, welded a ball bearing on top, made a bracket that sets between the winch post and the winch and one that sets on the square tube on the trailer and bolted it around the square tube so no drilling into the trailer itself. Sanded the entire thing and painted it with a can of the truck bed liner so it has some texture so it is easy to hold on to. It works great, I hope this helps, if you need pictures let me know.
