04 Cougar FTD w 250 Verado, loaded as heavy as you will probably ever see.lawson101, thanks for the offer but I am up in Canada and getting things through the boarder is rather a pain..
Thanks for the info..So basically I need to go bigger in diameter and smaller in pitch to make up for the increase. Will see what I can find. I just wanted to check, cause I had a real problem orginally with the Verado/Trophy setup trying to stop it from loosing bite at take off and at lower speeds.Thanks.
Thanks smbass for the offer.I actually have someone around here that thinks they have one. Their just not sure on the pitch. But thanks.
I have a Loc-R-Bar on my Cougar FTD. I had my dealer install it when I bought my boat. Cause I dont drill holes in my boat. Not sure if the Puma is the same but with the FTD the side wall where the gunnal meets the carpet is curved so the bar had to be installed about a 1/2 inch above the deck. I like having it on then not having it. I think most theives are lazy so they will move on. For additional safety I have a motion sensor that chimes when someone goes near my boat. The speaker is wireless so I turn it on and put it in my hotel room and be warned if someone is near my boat.In the years of people saying that you can use your winch to take it off I have yet to actual see someone who it has actually happened to. To get past it I am sure the weak spot is the lock.
Sorry I wish I had your problem, mines currently below the freezing mark in a barn behind 2+ feet of snow up here in Canada. In the summer mine runs around 148 if I remember correctly. The temp doesnt seem to change if I am idling or hauling.
On my 04 FTD, I have a Globalmap 6000 flush mounted and then have a X19 on the rail using the small ram mount and the rail mount that they make for it. I havent had any problems with it moving around while under power and best part was I didnt have to drill any holes. I have the same small ball mount on my front unit as well and it doesnt work as well. It seems to vibrate loose up at the front of the boat.
the wait wont take as long as you think. Your boat will be here in no time… Its the 120+ days till Bass season offically opens that will be the killer… Just another Canadian Basscat Owner, killing time waiting for the snow to melt and the season to open. 04 Cougar FTD w 250Verado in Waterloo.
Yep the motor is a Verado…. I would say that this is chine walk too.. but its more like when you over trim the motor and it doesnt have the lift to hold it there.. Except there is barely no trim.. As for weight distro, I think I have put everything back were it was last year.. and with the trophy it didnt seem to do this.
Question for the motor people, not to steal the post….. If the 2 strokes have more torque then the 4 strokes, why do I see the 2stroke guys running the Bravo1s getting two sets of holes added to the props? I dont have them on my Bravo1 that I run on my 250 Verado and I think the hole shot is excellent. Would it be even better with them? My trophy prop blows out with the cav ring and all of the plugs filled.
I did a search and found the UFP instructions for checking everything with the coupler. It all looks pretty straight forward so I will give it a try. In the instructions it says to not mix brake fluid types. Is the stuff thats already in there Dot 3 or Dot 4? And along those lines is there a brand that is better then the rest?
I am about 2 hours away. I fish it 3 or 4 times a season. It is definatly a good smallmouth lake. It has a huge perch population so they can be a problem or a lot of fun to catch depending on your mood. I have had my best luck at the very top end of Cuch in the shallow rocks, or around the markers in the middle of the lake that mark the rock shoals.
What is up with that Minn Kota mount on the homepage? Have they changed it for 2009?
I take my flush mounted unit out when I put my boat away for the season…. The silicone used to stick it to the dash is a pretty good lock. It takes me a while to get it out. I have one of those cheap motion sensor door bell type alarms that I put on my boat at night when I am parked at the hotel… Failing that, I have the lok r bar and a python lock around the prop… and I put the cover on the boat all the time….
I always need to use the winch, do you get your boats all the way up? I must be doing something wrong our you guys must have some beautiful launch ramps.
I think I may buy one in the offseason then, it will be months till the snow melts and I can try it out though…. Currently with the Bravo1 I am hitting the 6200-6300 rpm area, its a little lower then the Trophy gets though. I didnt get it as a speed prop, more for when I am out fishing on Erie so I can keep the boat on plane at lower speeds for going over the waves.
