I have same boat and engine-95 model,i bought this boat 2 months ago and it has an a40 23p tempest(no plugs)and mine does the same thing,bow drops at slow speeds and in turns unless im running 5000 rpms and up.I think the only way to stop this is to have someone like Rich Boger tune the props to our boats,from the posts i have read on bass fishing home page(props)his prop tuning gives all around better performance and lift at slower speeds,im thinking of sending him mine!Brian.

Matt,3 blades are a little faster on most boats than a 4 but 4″s handle better and carry a load better on most boats ,you just have to try both and see which one your boat likes better.If you go to the owners page you will see that some of us basscatters are running tempest”s and some trophy”s,i have an a40 23p tempest on my sabre now but i just bought a 23p trophy,will try it this weekend and see what happens,you also might have to re-adjust your jack plate between the two,Brian.

Darin,how high are you running the trophy,right know i have my tempest about 3.5 inches below pad,thanks Brian.

Matt,what kind of boat/motor do you have?the larger vent holes are gonna make you engine rev more on take off,you just have to experiment with plugs in or out and see how your boat reacts to this change,Brian…..Also go to the owners board and see what guys with the same boat/motor are using,that will give you a good reference point!

Welcome to the cat family,i have a 95 Sabre-xr6 and the best prop i have found is the 23 pitch tempest run about 3 inches propshaft below pad,i tried a trophy which is what some other Sabre owners run but my holeshot sucked and it just seemed to slip more,you will get better holeshot and speed with the tempest,should run 62-66 depending on how much load you carry,enjoy that new boat!!!!!!!!!!Brian.

trophy is the old style with fixed vent holes,a plus has removeable plastic plugs that you can remove or change size to get a better hole shot and the new props have thicker blades
