Is there a picture somwhere of the new style seats?
Garmin GPSMAP 640 or 620. The only way to go for both road and water. though I believe they are more than $500
Call Garmin and they will help you out. (they have the best customer service I have found.) Most likley it is one of the ones that you plug into your computer and update. They will talk you through it step by step. (if the maps are still availble) Garmin changed all there maping a couple of years ago.
It is really personal prefrence. The kind of fishing I do I can get by with just a good flasher with a temp guage. I do like having a GPS but I belive it is just a convience. They dont show any more than a good lake map. If you are a first time bass boat owner i think you should start off with the minimum. I think it can make you a better fisherman (learning to read lake maps, pay more attention to your surroundings, using visual land markers instead of waypoints) I believe if you start off with the basics then later upgrade to the convience stuff it will make you a better fisherman in the long run. Just my two cents.
I agree with Phil, just a basic unit is all you need, just concentrate on the fishing, I only use Garmin products on my boat so I would remomend them.
Anyone have any Smithwick Carrot Tops they want to get rid of?
Just got back from Falcon fishing, had a great trip. I dont think anything is happening down there that has not always happened in Mexico. It is just getting alot more media coverage now with all the politics involved. I fish Amistad and Falcon several times a year on the Texas side and have never had a reason to fish in Mexico. The fishing is just too good to take my boat into a country that does not inforce its laws. (if they have any). I have fished all over and have yet to find any lakes that come close in comparing to thoes two fisheries. I just hope the negative media does not kill the small business in Zapata, and Del Rio, they are truly amazing places to fish.
Welcome to the Family, I was the guy who took TMAC2 fishing and all it took was one Lake Falcon Swamp Donkey to have him hooked on bass fishing, You will love your Basscat and the memories you and your family will make with it. Congrats!
Start by getting rid of that Lowrance and get you a good Garmin GPS. (Sorry I could not resist).
That is why I read this document every year on the 4th. To never forget. Not trying to be political but just wanted to share it with the family!
I have some Costas, Maui Jims, and Revos. Costas are like driving a Chevy, Maui Jims like a Lexus, the Revos like a Rolls Royce. All Three will get the job done, but there is deffinatly a difference in the quality. Remember the main thing you have to ask yourself when getting sunglasses is do I look cool wearing them!
I had two of them that kept frying my batteries, due to leaving it pluged in. Noco did replace both under warranty but of course that did not help with the price of 9 batteries. So i would not recomend ever leaving it pluged in any length of time. Plus check your levels often on your batteries.
I only use Garmin units with an internal reciever, and I have never had an issue with it locking in on a location. From my experiece I see no need for taking up more space for an external antenna.
Thanks Flyswatter, I am completely sold on the new Garmin line of products. I currently have the echomap 50s on my trolling motor. The sonar on these units are alot better than anything Humminbird or Lowrance has out today. My only concern is the size. I like the Garmin 820xs but I do not think it will fit on the space on my console. Thats why I was asking if anyone knows if the Echomap 70dv will fit. Its size is 9″ x 5.6″.Thanks.
