Gabe Lawson from 101 Prop Service is a great guy to deal with. Anyone looking for a good prop, I recommend you check him out. I traded my trophy for a tempest and he came thru. Thanks,Dan
Bassplaquer,My Johnson 225HO did this same thing once upon a time. Does the check engine light come on? Mine did and it indicated a fuel occlusion. Actually, this was as simple as a kinked fuel line in front of the primer bulb. Imagine that! I went all the way to the shop for them to tell me the hose was kinked.Would be nice if that is all that it was.Good Luck,BassCatDan
BassCat,I agree that the RakerII just didnt sing on my rig. The bow lift is great and the feel was good, but the speed was not there for the CAT. Though I am sure it would be great on another rig.The Tempest is a good prop, but the 4blade Renegade seems to perform overall. I talked to my good ole Evinrude (formerly Johnson) dealer today and I am going to drop it off. Hes going to work with me to either get it fixed reasonably or find me a nice lightly used gearcase. Thanks,BassCatDan
Id love to see the weights of the 4 strokes come down to that of the lightweight DFIs such as the Optimaxes. Adding turbocharger to add that much anticipated burst would be nice, given that the weight could be contained. Honestly, when I read all the hype about the Verado, I was eager. Then I found out that they weigh a ton and are not good on fuel. They have a long way to go.The new 250SS Suzuki is a step in the right direction, but still way too heavy. Most importanly of all, I want to see the prices become reasonable like the EFIs and the CARBs were. It seems that the green engines raised the prices so high compared to carbs and we will never be able to recover. Thanks,Dan Dan, That new 250 SS Suzuki is only about 50 pounds more than a 250 Opti. We think the weight is fine, and the performance is fine too from our perspecdtive.BCB
John,Youre right about the warranty for sure. Dealer noted that there was a 5yr warranty right now. THis makes a big deal when youre financing an engine (or a boat) for that matter. Its kind of funny, when I bought my engine new in 2002, it was for the low low price of $6200. I got an incredible deal. Now, 5-1/2 years later I am looking at a new one that will cost at least double (almost triple). Thanks,Dan
Bob,You absolutely cannot go wrong with the Classic. Great boat and the OPTI will be nice with that rig. Get it checked out though to make sure it all checks out. 37 hours is just a walk-in the park. My 2001 model engine has approx. 250 hours on it.As far as the hot foot, I had a slide plate put on Cougar. I am 6 tall and there is plenty of room to slide forward and backward from my comfort zone. I highly recommend the slide plate. Do some searching here for there should be some guidance on how to install and make sure the bolts dont go thru the hull.Good luck with your decision! A nice GPS can be had for a song and a dance. Check out http://www.boatersworld.com see http://www.boatersworld.com/product/319392619. … nder-comboYou can get a color eagle gps/fishfinder for $399.Thanks,BassCatDan
Greg,I was at Thomas Marine 2 weeks ago. They had several CATS in stock. Cougar FTD, numerous Pantera IIs (maybe even 5 or 6) and 2 nicely equipped Sabres. I can only hope that this is not the case. However, BassCat would be sure to pick up a high quality dealer in its place if this were to happen. Thanks,BassCatDan
Never ever a thought for a second that BassCat would leave us hanging in any way. You guys are just awesome and your service is impeccable! Thanks,Dan
Mulecat,I am in a totally different world here! I live in South Louisiana (Houma, Louisiana). You can email at Danpleblanc@aol.com if you need to contact me.Thanks,Dan
Gabe,How you doing?Ill try to give you a call on Monday. Hope you can enjoy your weekend OFF.I am going to watch some LSU Football on Saturday …probably in the rain. Thanks,Dan
Congratulations to Premier on the new line! Dont think they could have chosen a better partner than BassCat! Thanks,DanHouma, Louisiana
If youre starting from scratch building a new house/garage, why not build your boat a HOUSE of its own?My BassCat has its own attached garage. I have a Cougar without swing-away tongue. My garage is 30X18 with a full-width door (15 or 16 I cant recall). Its really easy to get in and out and all of my storage closets/roll-aways fit easily and I can work around the boat. The 30 garage is comfortable, but believe it or not, a couple more feet wider wouldnt hurt!!! It also would have increased my value to a 2-car garage if it were 20 wide.Just as a kicker, my wife asked the contractor what it would cost to have this room air conditioned. Since I have 2 units, the garage was added to my upstairs units AC system with its own zone. NOTE: There is no return air in the garage, due to the issue of fuel fumes, etc.Good Luck,BassCatDan
Thats right…. I had the 225HO Johnson with standard gearcase. It was quick (70-74) but it was a GAS HOG!!!!! Thanks, Dan
Unlike others, I have no qualms in recognizing our ex-coach for what he did. I really appreciate what he did for LSU and how he built the program for Les to carry on. The new LSU coach won…but not as cleanly as I would have liked to see it. We got cute when we didnt need to. However, the wonderfully talented Tiger team executed in the supreme clutch. My wife made a great bbq supper and I had to wait till after this gut-wrencher to enjoy it! But they did it! Go TIGERS!!! Good luck to the TIDE! They have come a long way!!!! Take care, Dan
