Just curious, what boat and which motor have you been running the 25 tempest on?
Ok, I had been “considering” changing props, now I must change props. On Sunday I busted a blade off of my 4 blade Trophy Plus ( 26 pitch ) I had been running on my 02 Jag. I had been considering switching to a 3 blade Tempest Plus. I am curious as to why the 4 blade Trophy is recommended? I assume it is needed to get the hole shot and lift needed because the Jag is heavy? If I were to go to a 3 blade Tempest to try to get a little more top end speed, would I need to go up to a 27 pitch, or stay at the 26 pitch. Has anyone out there switched from the 4 blade Trophy Plus to a 3 blade and what were the results? I run a 225 Opti on my 02 Jag and my boat is normally pretty heavy as I have the flipping deck, a ton of tackle and gear, and I have switched trolling motors out from the Motorguide to a Minn kota which is a little heavier on the bow.
Do you still have this prop for sale ?
hmm… I have not tried different PVS plugs. I am using whatever came with the prop. I guess I always assumed they were all the same and didnt realize the PVS plugs were different. Also, I always thought that just effected hole shot?
Do you still have this one for sale? Any nicks, etc on it? Also, wondering what boat/motor setup you were running it on and what you are switching to? I have a 2002 Jaguar with a 225 opti on it. I could always use a spare Trophy. I toyed around with a Tempest earlier in the year but I didnt get the same performance I could with the 4 blade trophy. I could always use a backup
Congrats and well deserved! A no doubter! Hats off to Rick, family, and team.. A lot of work goes into building the best bass boats made, and taking care of those who own them. A job well done and a product well done!
I have personally seen Mike at tournaments and everything that Rick, Marty and others say is true. I watched him stand in 100 degree heat for hours, until the last kid was gone while he signed autographs in Little Rock this past summer. Others were inside in the air conditioning eating dinner, and Mike was sweating it out with the kids outside. His commitment, passion, and desire are second to none.
Mike- congrats on AOY, and welcome to the family!
Congrats to all parties. This will prove to be a great move for BCB. I had the opportunity to meet John this past summer in Little Rock and he seemed like a very professional and well manored person. His personality and qualities will match very well with Basscat in addition to the other quality companies he is aligned with. He is an up and coming young angler with many successful years ahead of him.
“Welcome to the family” John!
Congrats and welcome to the family Terry.
Nice rig. I love those colors. Looks like its a well taken care of boat.
I know this boat well. Its my brothers. He takes very good care of it. It is always garage kept, and we all tease him that he worries more about keeping that thing shined up and pretty when he should be that conscious about catching fish. He washes and waxes it regurlarly, keeps it tuned up and in tip top shape, and he is meticulous about it. You never see it with so much as a smudge of dirt on it. Wiped down as soon as it is pulled out of the water, and washed like it was a fine sports car. Its a nice rig. It will fly also!
Mine will be available around late Oct. 2007 Puma with a 2006 Mercury Opti HP from teh racing division. Color graphs, loaded with tons of options. You can email me at lddrummonds@sbcglobal. and I will send you some pics.
Good looking boat Charlie. Ive got a Puma in those exact colors. Got a 250 xs hung on the back of mine. That color scheme is a little different but classy. I get compliments on mine all the time. I had a guy come up to me at a gas station in Shreveport last week and say he really liked it and ask the exact colors. Its a sharp looking baot.
Mark, Gary and Phil are correct, most applications the 27 Trophy is your prop. Especially if you run a very heavy tournament type load most of the time. What you gain with the tempest versus what you will give up in handling usually isnt worth the trade off. The only thing I have found better than the 27 Trophy is a 26 Trophy I have which I had ” worked” and a little bit of pitch added and the prop balanced. That prop is between a 26 and actually closer to a 27 and it seems to be the perfect prop.
Looks sharp. I like the changes. Leave it to Rick and team to come up with interesting, useful, meaningful changes each year. thats how they stay ahead of the pack, and that along with being the best people in the business are what make them # 1.
Hats off BCB, more fine rigs!
Now, question is……. Puma or Cougar???
