I dropped down from the 26″ Trophy PVS to the 25″ Trophy PVS on my FT/225Optimax rig. The performance was good, but I did not want to “dog” the motor in higher water and air temperatures we have in Missouri. My personal recommendation is to always prop for maximum rpms…With the 25″ Trophy PVS, The holeshot is excellent, and top end is 72mph at 5725 rpms ( just under rev limiter) fully loaded with gear, two adults, fuel and livewells. My engine height is 24.5 inches on the manual R&R jackplate. I am not running the blow-out ring and have all 4 large-hole plugs in mine.I tried a 26″ Tempest and “smoked” it at these comparable settings, so my best overall performance is with the 25″ Trophy.Let me know if I can assist you in anyway. Email me your phone number if you want to talk.Gary Hollander
Norm,Email me your phone number and I will call you back. I am measuring from the bottom of the pad to the bottom of the “hook” on the motor bracket. However, there are some other reference points we can use to make the measurement “simplier”.It sounds like you are pretty close….Gary Hollander
Scott, etal,If and when I get a chance to try the 27″ Tempest, Ill gladly share my findings and results…Gary Hollander
This is the ultimate prop for the Verado. Includes correct thrust washer.Part Number 48-825914A41-26PExcellent condition; no dings. I ran this prop a total of 5 times on two previous rigs I had for testing only.I will sell for $450 plus $15 shipping, or trade for new Mercury prop with the metal hub insert for the high performance gearcase (e.g. 250 Pro XS or 225 Pro XS)Please respond vai email…Gary Hollander
For my rig, and my experiences with a 25″ Trophy, 26″ Tempest and 26″ Trophy…I have a manual jackplate, but have best performance with a 26″ Trophy, two holes completely plugged, and two with large hole plugs, no blow-out ring. The jackplate is flush.Puma DC with Pro XS 225 Optimax, fully loaded…Gary Hollander
The “totally plugged” holes are just that. There is a PVS plug that has no hloe in in at all, and snaps in place as the others do. I dont have the part number in front of me, but they used to come 5 in a pack… Try the small hole ones and see how they do.Gary Hollander
This week I have been able to try out a 27 ” Tempest 3-blade, stock out of the box, with the large hole PVS plugs installed. The rig is a Puma DC with Optimax 225 Pro XS. The jackplate is up 1/4″.I removed my 26″ Trophy and installed the 27″ Tempest–no jackplate adjustments or anything else. Full tanks and all of my tackle, seats, etc, it ran 73.1 GPS at 5600 rpms. This was in fairly heavy waves, 80 degree air temp and 83 degree water temp. My previous best was 72.6 GPS with the 26″ Trophy.I plan to raise the jackplate another 1/4″ and try again. The holeshot and acceleration are excellent. Will post again after results are in.Gary Hollander
I raised the jackplate an additional 1/4″, and it blew out badly on take-off. I dropped it 1/8″, which eliminated the blow-out, and went to 73.3 mph GPS. The lift is incredible.I am really impressed by the 27″ Tempest on my fully loaded Puma DC/225 Pro XS. I also acquired a 27″ Trophy, which I plan to test this week as well.Lessons learned to date: the Optimax Pro XS 225 will take as much prop as you can give it. Gary Hollander
Yes, rpms increased; however, the motor was blowing out on take-off too much. I dropped it back 1/8″, and that solved the issue. The holeshot and acceleration are really great.Fully loaded with all my stuff and full tanks, I got 73.3 mph GPS. The lift is outstanding! I still plan to try the 27″ Trophy this week. Will be practicing for BASS Weekend Series on LOZ next weekend…Gary Hollander
I raised my engine 1/4″ yesterday, and with 30 gallons of fuel, all of my stuff and full-figured me, ran 74.6 GPS at 5600 rpms. The air temp in the low 50s and water temp in the high 60s.I now have 30 hours on the motor, and it continues to get stronger. When I sell this one, it will be an awesome rig for the new owner…Gary Hollander
I have posted about this topic on several other postings, and even lower down on this one. Far be it from me to disagree with BCB, but mine runs the best with a 27″ Trophy. I ordered mine originally with the 25″ Trophy. I also tried the 26″ Trophy, 26″ Tempest and 27″ Tempest as well, and the best overall performance has been with the 27″ Trophy (top speed, holeshot, mid-range acceleration, etc).I have a manual jackplate and it is up 1/2″ from flush. I run my rig full of fuel and tackle…Gary Hollander

Search this board for this topic. I have provided feedback on several different threads. My best was 74.7 GPS with a 27″ Trophy, standard jackplate, Puma DC with 225 Pro XS. Second best was 74.0 GPS even with a 26″ Tempest. The 25″-26″ Trophies are good, all-around props year-round, and will serve you well regardless of conditions or load.If you have a manual plate, set engine height approximately 3.25 below pad. If you get it too high, the hull wont lift.Good luck, and email if you want.Gary Hollander
Phil,Here is your picture… This is a very nice rig, and Phil takes excellent care of his equipment.Come to the Lake and get a fishing trip included…
