Yes – brand new
I have been talking with them at S&S Marine in Clarksville, IN. where I purchased my new rig. I will poke them again, and let you know how I make out. Thanks!
BassCatSC wrote:Hello KevinH. Good to see another Cat in the Upstate of SC. I live in Moore, SC and purchased my Cat (last 2 Cats) from Greene Boat and Motor in Spindale, NC. Unfortunately, Greenes has gone another direction and no longer selling Cats. We really need a Cat dealer in the Upstate to service this market. From my house I can be at Keowee, Hartwell, Russell, Clarks Hill, Greenwood, Murray, Wylie, and Norman in less than 2 hours. Santee and Wateree in less than 3 hours. This is pretty much year round fishing. Everybody that sees my Eyra for the first time loves the boat. The conversation ALWAYS ends up at “where do you get one at?” or “where can I see some Bass Cats?”. That is usually the showstopper. We have Ranger/Triton/Nitro dealers and now Skeeter/Phoenix (growing big time in the Upstate) but no Bass Cat representation close (In my opinion Bass Cat is missing a wonderful opportunity to grow by not having a dealer in the Anderson/Greenville/Spartanburg SC area.Robert GuestBassCatSC2013 Eyra/Mercury 250 ProXSBassCatSC – I cant agree with you more! Though it is nice having something unique in the area 🙂 Im running a Mercury 250 ProXS as well. Im breaking it in – almost complete. Absolutely LOVE THE RIG!!! This BCB flies – literally! 🙂 Im 20 minutes to Lake Hartwell, 30 minutes to Lake Keowee, 45 minutes to Lake Jocassee, about an hour to Lake Russell, etc. There is a lot of great bass fishing lakes in this area with a lot of tournements as well. As you know, a lot of marinas in our area have gone out of business due to the economy over the years. Hopefully this will change. Pheonix is dominate in this area right now. Skeeter was, but the local dealership that carries Pheonix and Skeeter just dropped Skeeter – Palmentto Boat Center. They said that they are only going to carry Pheonix and Nitro for bass boats now.
Bass Cat Boats wrote:UFP / Dexter has parts supplies and service all across the country which can assist you under warranty, should their parts be the issue. We also have other BCB dealerships, though often those service centers are very well trained. Have your dealer get with BCB Service and we will bump it up here to them also.I appreciate BCB getting back with me. I have sent an email this morning to S&S Marine (Brian Morgan), where I bought my rig from. They have been very responsive in the past. Please dont precieve my postings as a complaint. I realize that we do not live in a perfect world. Im confident that it will be made right. Thanks again! Hopefully BCB will hear from S&S Marine shortly. The bass are moving back up into the creeks with the cold nights hear, so bass fishing has been awesome (work keeps getting in the way – though). As BassCatSC said, fishing is year round here – Love it!
jstew – GREATLY APPRECIATE IT! The sacrificial anode bolt is where? I dont recall see one. I presume that it is on the motor housing? I didnt think that running the extra ground wire off of the transducer clamp was going to help, since it is stainless steel, but as I said, I was desparate :-). I was willing to try anything.
Appreciate it, but I had already tried that. I ran a separate ground wire to the transducer clamp. It helped a little, but very little. I did find a YouTube video that showed this to me. I knew that I could try that quickly.
Jstew – my MG does not have an anode where you describe. They must have change it in my model. The skeg is cast as part of that section of the motor housing. There is no external screws on any part of the motor housing on mine.
I have a 16 Cougar AE with Merc 250 Pro XS, manual jack plate (8″), running the 26P Fury 3. I run at about 74 mph at about 5200-5400 RPM with the trim close to nuetral. This is loaded with just me in the boat, 36 gals of fuel. Livewells full seems to drop about 2 mph (best guess). I am still in training on trying to keep it out of the chine walk (Ive read numerous articles – I just need more practice 😉 ) Im afraid that I am going to hit redline before I can trim this one out all the way. I presume this is why you were running the 27P Fury 3, and now experimenting with the 26P Fury 4.This boat is amazing fast – Love it! Thanks BCB!Last edited by KevinH on February 8th, 2017, 1:36 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Love it! Oldtimer57!I was only asking about the lightning E.T. Because as I mentioned, my friend ran one on his Alison bass boat and loved it. I realize that the Alison is an entirely different hull design. This is why I asked the question here first before dropping $1000 Plus on this prop.Right now I am running a 26P Fury 3 on my 16 Cougar AE w/ 250 Merc on an 8″ manual Jack plate with dual 8 power poles, and I do not have enough prop. I can run 75MPH (GPS) at 5800 RPM with the engine just above neutral trim. This is with 2 people in the boat, and live wells full. I am debating on going to the 27P Fury 3 or 26P Fury 4.
C130 wrote:I knew Bass Cat customer service was the best but just received the letter from Mr. Pierce along with the jacket and cap. I was still shocked by the level of detail in the letter and the time Rick took to do some research about the customer. I know many on here already knew this but this was my first new Bass Cat.Bass Cat is one classy company that builds the best boat in the industry in my opinion. I know everyone has been extremely busy at Bass Cat and just want to thank the Pierce family along with all the employees for doing such an incredible job. They not only build a a great product but still keep the personal touch and relationship with its customers, something that very few companies still accomplish. Thanks, hope to meet some of you at the Classic. I definitely would like the second your comments! They have been great!
I have a 2016 Bass Cat, Cougar AE with twin 8 power poles, Merc 250 XS PRO with a Fury 3 26P. I have a manual jackplate. When I got this boat from the dealer, the engine was set at 2-1/8″ below pad. The torque steer was terrible, but the boat would haul the mail! I dropped the engine to 3-1/2″, and currently at 3″ below pad. I cannot trrim the motor all the way out. I hit get way too close to the rev limiter. My AE only hold 36 gallons of fuel, and I have only 3 batteries total (24V trolling motor). I ordered today a 26P Fury 4 for my rig today. Do a search on Fury 4 Phil has got some great statistics on the Cougar FTD. Youll abosolutely love this rig!Check out this linkhttp://basscatowners.yuku.com/topic/356 … OgQKvkrLRY Last edited by KevinH on April 7th, 2017, 10:19 pm, edited 1 time in total.
There are so many varibles, there no one dimension. You have to set-up your rig for your loading, and with or without live wells full. The way you predominately run your boat, which will be different from everyone elses. I have a 2016 Cougar AE with 8″ manual JP, 2-8 pwr. poles, 36 gallon gas capacity, 3 batteries total (24V Trolling motor), 250 ProXS. My boat was originally set-up with a 26P Fury 3 at 2-1/8″ below pad, but the torque steer was too much and I ran out of RPMs before full trim. I dropped the motor to 3-1/2″ below pad, and now am at 3″. I like it at the 3″ for now with the Fury 3. I was told to raise the jack plate 1/4″ at a time till the speed dropped off, or the torque steer got to be too much. I have just purchased a 26P Fury 4. I have yet to install it. From all of the write-ups, and the manufacturer recommendations, this is the right prop for this boat with the twin power poles. Good luck!
