I use the white vinegar/water mixture, works well. Do not use any soap to soap up the carpet , youll have a hard time rinsing all the soap residue out and what is left will attract dirt faster. Dont use any type of pressure washer, even the ones at the car wash have enough force to lift up some worn carpet off the deck Hose the carpet down real good then scrub it with a stiff bristle brush to loosen up the dirt. Saturate the carpet real good, take the nozzle off your hose and let the water flow on it. Make a mixture of 1 pint of plain white vinegar to 7 pints of water. Use a garden sprayer or spray bottle to saturate the carpet. Scrub it with the brush again, the vinegar will loosen up the rest of the dirt and residue in the carpet. Turn the hose on and rinse real good while scrubbing. Use a shop Vac to suck up the water or let air dry. Fluff the carpet up with a brush and it will look like its new again. If you have some real bad stains or worn spots, Resolve carpet cleaner is great for cleaning up spot stains or real dirty areas. You can get it at any grocery store. I had a rider get in my boat last year with some tar residue on his shoe, spot about the size of a quarter, my back deck was covered with these spots, must have been 100 of em. took some scrubbing with a small brush and the resolve , but the light grey carpet came up looking new….good stuff to keep in your boat cleaning supplies.
Pro-Tec is all you will need, it is actually a type of polymer sealant the adheres to the gelocat and seals the pores so no contaminants can settle in the pores and start the oxidation process. Pro-Tec sealant lasts 6-8 months, where a carnuba based paste wax will last maybe 2- 3 months, depending on the heat/humidity factor. Wax will actually start to melt in temps in the high 90s, and the friction of the water will also cause the wax to be removed. You need 2 days to put 2 coats of pro-Tec on correctly. Follow the directions for the 2 coat application. I have been using it on my White/Blue Cats for 7 years now and the finish still looks like new. I put one application on in the spring, and wipe the boat down with Bass Boat Saver or Meguiars Quick Wipe after fishing and the scum lines come right off the white hull. BBS has some UV protectors in it to also help protect the gelcoat from sun damage.Last edited by StanH on December 1st, 2007, 9:49 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I believe the vacuum compression started very late in the 1999 model year and was in full production in the 2000 models.
Bam, I bought a pair of the Cabelas Group 30 AGMs last Year to put in my Pantera 3, the extra weight has not made any difference in speed. I fish nothing but Tidal rivers on the Upper Chesapeake Bay and am on the trolling motor thruout the entire tournament fishing against a strong tide pull. I run my aerators constantly along with 2 graphs on constantly and these batteries have been great. Prior group 27 wet cells I used would be run down by the end of the day going against the tide, but these 30s have a lot of juice left after a tournament.
Well Done again.
Congratulations to Ron, Jan and Rick Pierce for running a business the way it should be done. Bass Cat Boats should be used as a model business for teaching purposes. The entire business process is one of the best I have ever seen, from the actual manufacturing and R & D to customer service after the sale.
Great to see a family owned company compete and win against Corporate conglomerates, keep coming up with innovative ideas and keep the customer # 1 and that will keep Bass Cat # 1.

I have been using the Cabelas AGM maintenance free Group 30s for my trolling motor for the past 2 years……..completely sealed, wont freeze in winter…….a little $$$ but they are the best I have used in my boats over the years. I had Dekas previous and they were good batteries also, but I wanted one less thing to have to do on the boat, so I went with the maintenace free…not having to check the water in them, etc. The group 30 has a CCA of 1205 and a RC of 205……I fish strong tidal rivers and they have yet to run down fishing against the tide all day in a TX. Pretty sure they will be going on sale at Cabelas this coming week……about $ 30.00 off each.
I have the Aluminum Trays in my Pantera 3 and the Group 30s fit fine. I have the Group 27 Cabelas AGM for the cranking battery, works great, run aerators and electronics all day. The Group 27 has 1200 Marine Cranking Amps and 180 RC……..the Group 30 has 1525 MCA and 205 RC.
For the Cabelas batteries, I replaced the 10 mm bolts with this stud kit from Dual Pro. Screw them in and you have a regular size terminal to hold all you wires. Easier then using the bolts. https://store.dualpro.com/index.php?cPa … 83e09e9a58

Bass Boat Saver is a nice product to use to wipe the boat down after each use, but it will do nothing to remove any oxidation. Oxidation needs to be compounded out, or wet sanded off if it is severe enough. Gel coat is very porous with microscopic pores that get filled in with the oxidized gel, turning the gel hazy/milky colored……try a mild polishing compound first if the oxidation is just starting usually this will remove it.If not, try Meguiars oxidation remover, it is a little more aggresive than a polish and should remove it….then rewax with a good Carnauba wax. http://www.meguiarsdirect.com/product_detail.a … EG+GLAZE+1&.&. Some boats get so oxidized that nothing short of wet sanding and compounding/glazing will remove the oxidation. Here is a before and after pic of a P4 that was severley oxidized, then wet sanded…….Malibu Silver colored P4 ( Black ) Before After Last edited by StanH on August 22nd, 2008, 11:32 pm, edited 2 times in total.
Elwood…… 3 things are needed for Oxidation: Oxygen, Heat and UV radiation. Eliminate one of the three and you will slow down the process. A good wax or sealant will help to eliminate this. This wax layer diffuses (refracts) both UV and infrared radiation from the sun. Without the wax/sealant coating, the radiation is absorbed by the pigment in the gel coat causing it to over heat, and trigger the chemical reaction that will dry out, dull and oxidize the surface. The 2 most used ways to prevent oxidation are Wax and Polymer sealants. Protect the Gel Coat with a paste wax. Any good paste wax with a high Carnauba content will protect. Most retail waxes only contain between 3 % and 5 % pure Carnauba, the more Carnauba, the higher the price. Cons = paste waxes will start to break down and melt in High air temps/humidity usually in high 90 degree temps. High air temps and friction from the water will remove a lot of the wax layer. If boat is used in these conditions, paste wax should be applied every couple of months, or sooner. it is Hard to find high Carnauba content wax, and can be very expensive. Collonite makes some decent high Carnauba waxes : http://www.waxbytes.com/marine.html Another option is a Polymer Sealer for the gel coat. One of the best made is a product called Pro – Tec. http://www.protecproducts.com/products.html A Polymer sealer that forms a chemical bond with the Gel Coat to seal the pores preventing contaminants from settling in the pores. I have been using Pro-Tec for 8 years..I fish nothing but dirty, stained Tidal Waters on the Upper Chesapeake Bay river systems, Have a white hull/top cap/blue sides 2003 Pantera III that still looks factory white…..scum like wipe right off the Pro – Tec sealant.
Should not be a problem, AGMs charge the same as wet cells……. Only some of the Gel Cell batteries need different chargers. I charge my Group 30 Cabelas AGMs with an onboard 15/15/15 Guest Charger.
