On my Jag, I have a Merc 225 EFI. I smelled gas one day in my garage too. What I found was that a gasket on the fuel pump on my 225 was leaking. It would only leak when the motor was tilted up (as if you were taking off the motor support). I would tilt up the motor, the gasket would leak, I would put the motor back down and the leak would stop. What would happen is the fuel would pool inside the cowl, slowly come out of the cowl around the steering connection to the motor, and then pool in the backspash area of the transom. This may be your problem too.
Thanks Phillip…..email sent to you.
Sorry Deerbass. Phillip says hes put the check in the mail. If something doesnt work out, Ill let you know.
I just would hate to waste a battery. That dang cranking battery is a deep cycle crank/start and I sure would hate to know I threw that money away and then waste a good battery by removing it.
Jason is a very nice fellow. I fished with him for a day down at Wylie not long ago. In my opinion he was a first class fellow all the way.
Charging an angler a fee……to advertise for you….. doesnt seem right. This doesnt sound like the BassCat I thought I knew.Isnt the billboard that a professional fisherman, or pros boat, or pros tow vechicle is……as an advertising vehicle…the very thing that Professional bass fishermen sells in order to make a living? It is my feeling that displaying the logo of any company on me is to their benefit. It doesnt do anything at all for me.Dont get me wrong……I love my BassCat, this forum, and all of the help you guys provide…..I am proud of all of that……but I also understand the value of advertising. It is something that I should sell to you….not something I will pay for. The Quest is a great program……it pays and angler for advertising for BassCat boats…..but only if he ALSO wins a tournament. Understanding the value of advertising, I think BassCat, or any other boat company, is getting one heck of a deal.
Norman in April is an interesting lake, depending upon how you like to fish. I would anticipate the some of the bass to be spawning at that time. The water temps right now are 49 on the main lake and 54 up river in certain locations. By April, youll see mid 60 degree water. At that time of year, if youre not a bed fisherman, Id throw three primary baits. Id throw weightless trick worms in black or bubble-gum, shakey-heads in green pumpkin, and Id keep a fluke tied on. So far as the best landing, it depends on what day your fishing. If its through the week, Id put it at Pinnicle off of Highway 150. If its Saturday, Id probably put in at Hager Creek. Good Luck to you. Charles
Mike – Thanks! Ive had a few items cut off of my skin as well, so Ive got to make a choice…..either cover up better or stay out of the sun more. I think Id rather cover up better! I appreciate it.
I met Mark several years ago when he worked for David Fritts at David Fritts Outdoors. He was selling Ranger Boats at that time. From my dealings with him, he has been a very respectable and honest fellow. I do not think that youll have any problems at all dealing with Mark…..sales or service. The only thing about HRBD that I do not like is that the BassCats that Ive seen are stored outside in a fenced lot. Theyre covered with a boat cover, but theyre outside. One thing that is convienent about HRBD is that its right beside D&E Marine. D&E performs the maintenance on my Mercury 225 EFI, and locally, asking anyone that I know, if you posed a question about who youd have work on your motor should something go wrong, D&E, without question, is almost always recommended. I hope this helps.
The Frogg Toggs are fine if you plan on buying a new suit every year. They just dont last. If you ever bend down and put your knees on the deck to tie baits, change baits, unhook fish, etc, then the knees get worn and raveled very quickly. I guess in my mind, what I would compare is this…….a new suit every year, or, pay alot more for it and have it for several years. Again, theres nothing wrong with Frogg Toggs…..they just dont last long.
I appreciate the recommendation. Ill order some tonight. Again, thank you.
This morning at my house, in Kernersville, NC……it was 3.53. I just went back by the exact same station at noon and it was $4.00 even.
I see on the payment calc above….as the amount goes up, the calculator takes it out to 180 months! In my opinion, if youve got to take boat payments out for 15 years, youre over your head in boat for the amount of money you have/make. If I were buying a boat, this is how Id do it…… First, see how much money you have that you can put down. Next, run thru some calculators for 3 yrs, 5yrs, and 7yrs. I think 7 years is too long myself, but thats up to the individual. NEVER, would I go beyond 7 yrs. When you run thru the calculators, you will see what the payments are for a given loan amount. In other words, you could run 10K at 3yrs, then 5yrs, then 7yrs. Then run 15K for 3yrs, 5yrs, then 7yrs. Then run 20K for 3 yrs, 5yrs, and 7yrs. This will give you a feel for what your payments would be. So, lets say, once youve run the numbers on the loan calculators, that you are comfortable with 20K at 5yrs. You could then add to that the amount of money you can put down, and that would tell you the max amount you could spend on a boat and make sense to your pocketbook. So lets say that added up to $30K…..then youd be looking at buying a year old boat. If that added up to $40K, then maybe youd be looking at buying a new or a year old boat. If that added up to $20K, then maybe youd be looking at buying a boat thats a few more years old. I would never go longer than 7yrs on a loan, and I wouldnt do 7yrs except under extreme conditions. The reason is because once you buy the boat, new or used, the value is dropping much more rapidly than the progress youre making on the loan in loan payments…..in other words, you will owe more on the boat than it is worth. That is a very bad positon to be in financially. If you had financial difficulites and needed to sell the boat….sometime into a long term loan, youd only get a percentage of the boat value when you sold it, and youd have to come up with the rest of the money on your own just to pay off the balance. I hope this helps.
Ikes victory is very impressive, considering he only had two days practice…..from what I understand. I fished two Bassmaster Weekend tournaments there this year (a one day and a two day), had several practice days in, and thought it was tough every day. In fact, in the single day bassmaster event, I spent the entire day in little nutbush as Ike said he did, and Ill tell you, I thought it was dang tough in there……as there is little space, its heavily fished, and theres a tremendous amount of boat traffic on weekends. My hat is off to the man. Congratulations. That is impressive.
Good Luck! – Tough Lake. I fish Norman all the time, as I live not far from the lake. We just fished the Special Olympics benefit tournament there this past weekend. 150 teams……13 lbs won it. I wish you the best. Charles
