So I setup my 96 Erya with P to P at 3.25″ and my manual jackplate with 5″ setback. I ran a 25 pitch V Max SHO stainless 3 Blade yesterday and it runs ok still slow to get out of the hole but I’ve been told that the Yamaha 175 V Max 4 stroke is slow out of the hole.
Any suggestions on weather to raise engine or lower it or change to different prop?
Thanks for the info. I currently have a Yamaha 25 pitch Vmax SHO 3 blade that runs 71 mph but I have trouble getting out of the hole with it. I had a 150 Merc EFI before and always ran 25 pitch props and they would jump out of the hole, now with the Yamaha 175 V Max it is very slow to get on plane with the 25 pitch SHO prop. I’m at 3 3/8″ PTP measured from bottom of hull to center of prop shaft. I’m at 5″ from hull bottom to Ventilation Plate. Any more help would be great
Now have a 24P 4 blade Fury prop set at 3 1/2″ PTP and runs great on top end but still struggles to get on plane. Running the Fury with all 8 holes open. Any other suggestions?
I was able to run today and it looks like I pull 3000 rpms to get up on plane with the 24″ 4 blade Fury. However I fill the livewells and added my partner and I cannot get on plane unless he moves up on the front deck.
I have a 1996 Eyra and blew the Merc 150 XRI I had on it. I installed a new 2019 Yamaha 175 VMax SHO in July and was interested in some info as to Engine height PTP, Prop of your setup as I never had a 175 only a 150 on the boat. Also any prop you are running or can recommend.
Thanks,
Gibbycat
