2006 Classic, Motor Guide Digital 85lb thrust I beleive. When I push the reset button nothing happens. There is no resistance, no clicking etc. Should the button lock in place once I push it in? I will check with a test light tomorrow and see if I am getting power to the front of the boat. The jumper wire does not have a breaker only the positive wire at the battery. Thanks for the help.

Ok I used a test light to check from the battery to the breaker and that is good. I checked on the other side of the breaker and that is good. I will check up from tonight and see if I am getting power to the motor. I imagine I am but I guess I will do a process of elimination. Is there a way to check the switch on the trolling motor to see if it is bad. The motor will not work if I switch it to continuous on. I will tinker with it some tonight. Any ideas of things to look for is appreciated. Thanks Jason

I have an 06 2.5 200 on my classic and I am running with two plugs removed. Much better hole shot. I tried removing the third and I have so much prop slip I was hitting the rev limiter. I could not get on plane. Anyhow, that is my experience with it.

This is mine. Not many like it at least in central and east texas.

Yeah, I thought about that. I will check that tomorrow. When it initially happens the motor was real sluggish. Like it wasnt running on all cyclinders then it got a big boost of power you could hear it kick in. Anyway, thanks for the help Phil.

It is the hole shot. But I also lost about 10 mph on top end. That I had 40 minutes earlier. That is the part that concerns me. The only item I will check is the plugs after that. I will take it to my local shop.

Ok! Thanks for the input. Now the nonmechanical side of me asking a question. How can I tell if it is not firing or if a plug is fouled. I pulled the plugs this afternoon at the house and all looked decent except for two that had burnt accumalted oil on them and I mean chared. How much do plugs run for this engine roughly?

The old prop was a 25 tempest plus same a new prop. Could I have a motor issues? Something just doesnt seem right. The other prop easily pushed the boat to high sixties /low 70s. I had it in the shop a couple of weeks ago for a water pump replacement the checked the codes and everything checked out good at that time. The engine sounds like it is running fine. It is turning teh prop about 3k right before it planes out. It was very consistent this weekend. Anyway thanks for all of the help.

Thanks old timer. My old prop is currently being repairs. They are putting it on a block and fixing it. i will take the new prop there as well. I did run a rebuilt tempest 25 with the same result as the new prop. I changed the plugs to NGK plugs which is what the merc mechanic reccommended. I hopefully will get to run the rebuilt prop and see whats going on there. Like I said it is turning 5700 rpms it is just much slower than normal. The motor looks to be about the same height is was before. It has never been a fast boat out of the hole but is would run with most of them on top end. Right now it just really feels slow. It was running a little rough sunday but the was first thing in the am after that is sounded as good as usual. Anyhow i appreiciate the help. I will start working on it and report back the results. Any other help is always recommended.

I am in need of a cranking battery for my 06 classic with a 2.5 200hp Merc. Which do you suggest?
