Well I havent heard much lately about Morgan Point but after the weather we got this week and the high flow in the river, I would say that Morgan Point should be good right now!! It might be up a little but should be back to normal by middle of next week. As for this year, Morgan Point has been unreal but it also received a lot of pressure too. Since the river was up most of the summer, a lot of people went to Morgan Point. Even though the river was up, it helped Morgan Point. Since they let alot of water out below Pool 2, it caused Morgan Point to go up and there was alot of flooded vegetation. This resulted in numerous 20 pound sacks and even some in the 25-27 pound range. As for the largemouth population as a whole in Morgan Point, it looks GREAT. We sampled numerous fish in the 3 to 5 pound range and even some bigger than that. As for the white bass and striper below Pool 2 dam, Im not up to date with that yet. Still in the process of learning the area and fisheries besides the bass and crappie populations. There should be plenty of water coming through the dam for the next couple of days which should make these fish bite. We did sample once below the dam looking for sauger and we didnt find any of them but we found LOTS of big spotted bass. Our best five would have gone in the 14-15 pound range and that is huge stringer of spotted bass for the Arkansas River. We also got some 4-6 pound largemouth, too. So dont rule out fishing for spots and largemouth if you are below Pool 2 Dam. If you have anymore question feel free to ask. Jeremy

Thanks all, We are just going to have a little bit of time in the afternoon if we even get to go. I will just hit jetties like I do on Pool 4 and 2. Last week, Pool 4 was on fire and so was Dardanelle.

LoL Ward, you havent heard of the “take a biologist fishing ” program. It is all the rage these days Well I didnt get to take the governor fishing. They said he didnt have time to fish just to take pictures. I have never heard of such things as no time to fish. There is always time to fish!!!! Anyways thank you to everyone that gave info, I really do appreciate it On Dardanelle, it took 23 pounds to win a tournament and 15 to get a check. As for me, I took some time off last week to fish Chicot, Dumas, and Pine Bluff, with my dad. At chicot we caught shallow fish in 1-3 foot of water. Dumas was died the day we were there. Pine bluff pool we caught a 6 and 4 pounder each day we was there. My pic is two fish we caught on back to back cast on Pine Bluff pool.Last edited by mojorig on November 27th, 2007, 10:51 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Megabass 110 jerkbaits are JUNK, but I will take any donated 110s that anyone is giving out, LOL. All joking aside, I have caught lots of fish on the 110 and have won a bunch of money on them. I have almost 50 now ( Im trying to catch up with Ivan, who has over 120). I have a tournament, practice and never leaves the home box of them. Good luck in 2008 on them, hope you catch a giant on them because the bass and the people making a killing on them on Ebay seem to love them !!!Last edited by mojorig on January 2nd, 2008, 3:03 am, edited 1 time in total.

LOL that would be great to have but it would kill me when we throw an old slimmy catfish, paddlefish, or gar into the boat to get it out of our nights. I would be over there wiping the boat down and not getting any work done Well that week got even better, two days later it thunder sleeted on us. Talk about cold, running nets in 39 degree water, in barely above freezing air temp. but it is all worth it will the data we were collecting.

Thanks, we just got really lucky is all I can say. We struggled in the bayou as well. Our in the boat column will be up later on get5bass and it will tell about our struggles and how we got lucky. It is getting really intimidated in the overall standings because we are surrounded by some of the best in Arkansas. Hopefully the luck will continue. Oh yea, the ol Sabre likes to run!!!

Well I just got back from there. I have been there all week chasing them in ditches and swamps. I have had my AGFC truck stuck and put it in places it shouldnt have been. I have also lauched our electrofishing boat in places people said it isnt possible to get a boat into. We have jumped logs and beaver dams (some that we had to get on plane to get over) to get into areas to look for them. I have motored on plane into shallow vegetative flats to sample then turn around and push pole out. While the situation is bad it isnt as bad as the media is making out to be. We dont think they are in the White River yet, there is alot of unfavorable habitat inbetween were we found them and the White River. They were found in very shallow ditches with no current and lots of vegetations. We have only found two outside the farm were they were first found. In that farm we found around 100 in a series of ditches. All of those ditches have been killed out. Outside that farm, we found two. One just down stream from that farm and one about two or three miles down stream. The saving grace is the creek we found them is in vegetative however, it flows into a bigger creek that has no vegetation and lots of current, which the snakehead dont like!!! Just know that the AGFC is doing all we can do to stop the spread of these fish into other areas and will continue the process of looking for them. While there is still ALOT we dont know about the situation we are using all resources to gather more info. JeremyLast edited by mojorig on May 2nd, 2008, 2:10 am, edited 1 time in total.
