Interesting comments. Do we get a brochure explaining these things?

Thanks for your comments. This is my first OI. I use to fish quite a bit (not tournaments) and am trying to get back into. My son is coming with me. We are definitely amateurs especially with regards to tournaments. I had only fished a couple and I think one of them was the old shotgun start.

We are back in NWA and I want to thank Ron, Jan, Rick and the BCB staff for their hard work and efforts for this event. My son and I went and it was the first for me and him in something like this. Good Luck to all and wish everyone well. Hey, Marty nice to meet you. I will catch Ivan on the flip flop. Give him a hard time for me, OK. Really, he has been very helpful with questions.

If you have a 06 Cougar and a 225 Yamaha HDPI will one of the 4 blade work? I use to run 4 blade on other boats. This came with a regular 3 blade Yamaha prop.

OK Thanks. Should I lower the engine first? I am about a fuzz below the jackplate mount (at the first notch) with the motor mount. Can you give me some idea of the RPM and speed I should expect for a fairly loaded boat. Say regular gear and 500 lbs in human weight (say not all mine). If I know about what to expect I can see results the next time I open up. Like I mentioned before, I am getting more use to chine walk. In fact, I was showing my son how to handle it. By the way,I have just about given up on the Yamaha speed gauge. The inlet in the motor keeps getting stopped up. The low 70s is by GPS. Any help is appreciated. Maybe the motor is about right, huh? I checked it out the other day. I am about 71.5mph GPS at about 5500-5600 rpm. It says 25M on outside of the Yamaha prop. I am not sure how you tell the pitch on this one. I can probably get a little more out of it by having a little different trim or whatever. So if I raise it a little (be about flush at the jack plate then) would that help some? Moose

I kept my four blade prop that I had on my 175 Johnson FICHT and Champion (I had before the new Bass Cat I have now). I used it for my main prop and had a 3 blade Raker for spare. I have it in storage building. Let me know if you are still looking and I will check what it is. I cant remember what it is right now. Moose

I use to guess. Later I bought a measuring glass (for mixing oil to gas) at marine store. It shows ounces and metric. Moose

Thanks for your information. Is the 1440 dash graph “y” ed to the LMS 332 in the dash? I saw a puck (I think) epoxied to the hull in the storage area. Is this the 1440 transducer? I think that all trans these were all factory installed. That is why I am asking in this venue. If they are glassed in can we swap for other Lowrance without issue? I assume that we could not use the factory installed transducers with like Hummingbird or other brands. Thanks again for your replies. Moose

Scott: I guess I need you. I have Farmers for everything and they did Foremost for 06 Cougar (new about 11 months ago). My premium is about $77.00 every month on auto pay. That is ridiculous. I was out of state alot in the past but I told them they better get it down or else. After I griped they decreased by boat/vehicle and said my motorcycle was going down. I have completed motorcycle, boat and AARP vehicle safety courses. How do you guys get cheap boat insurance? I was told my boat insurance was going to be $ 50.35/month now. That is still over $600 a year. I have a clean record and going on 60. When I read these things I am disappointed. I was assigned this agent when the other quit. I have been with them a long time and am hesitant to move companies. Scott can you clarify some of this? My email is mooseorgorilla@yahoo.com Moose

Hi. Dont take this wrong but is there a reason that you want to go to something other than your 06 Cougar? Is it the motor? I have a 06 Cougar and am happy with it. It might be nice once in a while to go a little faster for thrill (like a 250 hp). But I go around low 70s now and have good hole shot. Probably as fast as I need to go anyway. I was going to look at a 06 Puma and went with new 06 Cougar and I like the layout. I do not need the storage in the back with the large storage boxes in the front. I like that the gas tanks are switchable and I can see them in the back for gas level. Also it is not crowded in the back area for viewing and/or working on items. I usually leave the driver side gas tank a little less and fill the passenger side to equalize out the loading when I am myself. Do the 08 and 09s have something that these dont? Besides being new (and there is nothing wrong with that.) Moose
