I recently bought an Eyra SP but everything that could be upgraded was upgraded to where there isnt much difference between my boat and the regular Eyra. Only differences are the one I bought has one bilge pump, no lighted compartments, and 36 gals vs 52 gals of gas. And it looks like I can add more fuel storage but honestly dont need it.With the 225hp I can get up 74mph loaded down before I get scared and back off to a comfortable 70mph cruising speed
Ive had a Garmin 1040xs for about two years now and LOVE IT!!!! When I first hooked it up I left the wiring/transducers for my Lowrance HDS10 hooked up as well to do a “side by side” comparison of down/side imaging. Well, there is no comparison. The Garmin is clearer, brighter, and more detailed. Pros:realiableclear and accurateeasy to operateExcellent customer service, can get a rep on the phone in under a minuteCons:The Garmin maps are good for the lakes they have surveyed, but still missing some key lakesRecently on the new units or old units if you do an update, it blocks Navionics chips from workingIm so happy with my Garmin I wouldnt consider another brand right now. Also, the Panoptix looks cool and they just introduced a new “more affordable” transducer this week for $999
tell me about it! haI never had a need for speed and now all I keep thinking about is how to get some more mph out of it
Thanks Chris! I bet you only use yours for the mapping, you can probably tell the depth by sticking your rod in the water Thats my style of fishing too
I looked at the Sherms mount, and I like the way it looks and comes with the BCB logo. There were two main reasons I didnt go with it, one he never made a mounting bracket for a Garmin before so i would have had to make a template of the gimbal mount to send to him. The second reason, its my understanding that if I switched from a Garmin to a Lowrance, i would need to get another Sherm mount as the gimbal holes are different between each brand of electronics. Sherms was considerably less expensive. It was really a toss up which way to go.
@jstew, I agree, the Garmin has the best 2D Ive seen from the three brands. I even like their DS/SC best too. The drawback of the Garmin is the newer units have software that blocks 3rd party maps like Navionics cards. The Garmin maps are good and some la
I put in a Garmin 1040xs on my Eyra, which is a fairly large outer dimension unit. Instead of cutting the console, which would have come really close to the edges, I opted to use a Precision Sonar Mount. Its real sturdy and barely blocks the fuel and trim gauge. I just have to tilt my head slightly.Last edited by smbass77 on December 22nd, 2015, 7:36 pm, edited 1 time in total.
sorry they pics are so big, not sure how to reduce the image size.
welcome Boat Dock!Youll love that Eyra, I have a 2014 that I recently got as a dealer leftover and absolutely love the ride and fishability. The coffin lids are great!
Congrats to Jason and BassCat! A benefit for both as well as for us customers.
not sure what your trailer tongue looks like, but if it is like my old skeeter and current BCB trailer, there is a key that goes in the slot to prevent the actuator from moving. If you dont have a key, check this out, worked GREAT on my old Skeeter trailer and I carry one as a spare in my BCB incase I ever lose the brakes. For $14 its a great investment. http://www.bassfan.com/reviews_article/ … p6xafkrJMw
i wouldnt drive without brakes either, but in the event you lose breaks before getting home, that magnetic trailer key was pretty awesome. my old Skeeter trailer would never disengage in reverse, no matter how many times the selanoid was replaced or the master cylinder was replaced. I did the old duct tape trick to keep my trailer key in which looked horrible. The magnet was awesome and now I only carry it for emergencies.
congrats!
