Trolling Motor Transducer Cable

I am looking for help on how to route my transducer cable on my motorguide trolling motor. I have read that its not reccomended to run the transducer cable along the cable steer shroud down to the foot control (Due to interference). I have seen some distant pictures of a way you can run the transducer cable up the trolling motor shaft and back down the trolling motor bracket. Does anyone have any close up pictures of this? Im curious how you attach the cable to the trolling motor bracket, how you route the cable near the shaft clamp, and how you route the transducer cable from the trolling motor bracket over to the fish finder.Here is the distant picture I was talking about, but Im not really grasping how it works from this.

Thanks a lot! Looks like you maybe ran yours through the trolling motor shaft clamp? Has that given you any trouble?

I did mine the same as Jim. The Motorguide shaft clamp has a slot that the cable rides in just fine with “wiggle room”. No trouble whatsoever.

Id use electrical tape vs. wire ties. Ties can cut into cable over time whereas tape is wide and wont cut.

I completely rewired my transducer cable using cable ties. I cinched them down tight making sure I had the correct amount of cable to not pull or crimp the wire. But, because I am OCD, I wanted it tight to the trolling motor shaft so there would be no loose cable. I used a cable tie every 4-5 inches and have had no issues so far. I never use wire / cable ties on trolling motor shaft-electrical tape only. Line needs to be able to slide up and down trolling motor shaft! Fish runs your line against trolling motor shaft and you got ties–bye bye fishy.

You can buy Velcro pre-cut cable straps at one of the big box stores. I use the type that has a slot in one end. Wrap it around, insert the end, cinch it down as loose or tight as necessary. They dont cut, and they hold up longer than tape.

I like that RazorCat, hadnt heard of that. On my way to the store as I have to temp mount cable on temp TM this morning. Got to be a lot easier to remove then tape.
