Still waiting on my boat, so I just got back from killing some time at BPS. They had their equivalent to my 07 P-2 and I was shocked at the price they wanted.Besides the Opti 200 and the GPS in the dash, this boat had nothing comparable to mine on it (no bow fishfinder, Hot Foot, etc.) Besides that, the carpet had waves, it didn’t have a passenger console, the lids and storage were loose and un-reinforced the trailer was ghetto – I’m not exaggerating at all! I guess that would have been fine if the boat was 30 or 40 percent less costly than my P-2 but it cost more, a lot more!I figured to get that boat close to mine, at least equally equipped, I would have had to pay 6 or 7 thousand more than I paid for my BC. Not to mention all the other intangibles and tangibles (customer service, etc.) I get by owning my P-2.Now admittedly, I think I got a super price because Big D was trying to make some room for the 08s, but come on!I don’t understand how that line can stay in business – there’s absolutely no comparison!

This would raise some question on what is the profit margin is for BPS. They make a cookie cutter boat and have to be to getting their engines (well everything) at a lower cost. Due to the amount of production!!

Yeah, but I imagine with that cookie cutter you leave a lot of scraps on the floor. I bet BCBs is light years ahead in efficency and have less rework. Not to mention dramatically lower overhead per unit–Im guessing at least.And how many of those other production workers actually see and talk to the end users of what theyre making, designing (or putting together)?Pride of workmanship is hard to come by these days in the corporate world. Lets hope small operations like BCB can compete for many many years to come.

To answer the real question you need to ask them how many man hours gose into one of ther products before they go into the red.Then ask BASSCAT the same question.These stats will shock you!
