seat bushing removal

To remove a seat bushing, take a jig saw or saber saw with a metal fine toothed blade. Make sure the blade is long enough to reach the bottom of the bushing. Make two (2) opposing cuts on each side of the bushing and slightly tilt the saw to cut the shoulder some. Be sure you hold the blade in a vertical position where it is cutting parallel to the sleeve housing. Take a large screwdriver and break the bushing at the cuts and shoulder. Tap the back with a medium sized hammer. Next twist the bushing with the screwdriver, it will usually fold in and you can easily grab it with a plier or tool for removal. If it does not easily slip out once relieved, check the cuts with a flash light for full depth vertically and almost full cuts horizontally. If that does not work, make an extra cut on one or both halves. You can make a puller from a 3/8" carriage bolt with the head ground to just fit into the pin hole, and a large (1 1/4" or larger) shallow wall socket with some washers. Then you can place the carriage bolt head under the bushing and screw it loose. Once loose it should easily come out, unless there has been a previous incorrect installation.BCB
