I use to be sponsored by Skeeter. Had a run in with them and my dealer I was sponsored by. Walked away from it and bought a Bass Cat with no sponsorship. Have no regrets and would do it all over again. Just sorry I did not do it sooner to tell you the truth. Better boat and by far a better company. Take Care and Good Luck Joey Watts
bass84737, I owned Skeeters for seventeen years. I fished out of their 18, 19, and my last was one of the 20 footers. I didnt think at that time there was any other brand. The T boats and R boats were the only boats around that were comparable in quality with Skeeter. At least thats what I thought! Two years ago EKs Marine became a BassCat dealer. Well being a S guy I never even gave BassCat any consideration to be a boat must less a real Bass rig. “Big Mistake” ! Any way, Im over there pricing a Merc. I see this BassCat in the show room. Its just beautiful. Remember, Im not even looking for a boat. I go around looking and feeling for any flaws. I cant find any. I then ask if I can get in and look. While on the inside, The first thing you will notice is absolute quality. Cosmetically and in workmanship. When opening the compartments, I noticed they were lighted and finished smooth to the touch. No fiberglass to be stuck in your hands while looking for fishing gear. The amount of storage was amazing. My S boat didnt even come close. Every thing seemed to be perfect on the inside and outside. So you know the next thing was to actually go run one. That opportunity was given and taken. The S boats speed is nowhere comparible to that of a BassCat with the same HP. Here in Louisiana we have stumps and shallow water. I put this boat to the test. It passed with ease. The draft was enough, I could go any where I wanted and it pulled over stumps and logs with only a 24 volt 82 pound troller. For as handling, if you can hang on, it can and will take as tight of a turn or manuver that the human body can sustain. The roughest water Ive been on is only 2 to 3 footers. Compared to the S boat, BassCat has the smoothest, dryest riding hull that Ive ever driven. The other things I know, theres no comparison to the relationship youll gain with a BassCat dealer. Cutomer service with the dealer and BCB company are second to none. The friends youll gain after joining the BassCat family, Its unbelievable! I never want another boat brand as long as Im able to fish. My introduction to and purchase of a BassCat is the best thing thats ever happened. No,” I dont regret anything.” Just sorry it took this long. Glynn
I run with a bass angler (fishes 3 to 4 days a week) and he purchases from the show room floors ZX 225s, and now runs an i-class. Of course, I fish with him, or him in my boat when I did run a an 06 BCB PIV. He (and I) will admit that the S brands are not as smooth riding in rough water. They tend to “pound” a bit more as opposed to cut through. Their hulls are not deep. Also, the pounding seems to come just in front of your feet (as opposed to under neath you or a bit behind- I admit that I am not an expert in hull design and dont know if there is anything to this), and possibly why his boats typically have to go back for stress cracks repairs (plus, their gel coat process is not as good as BCB). The positive side is that I have found the S boats a bit heavier than a BCB and therefore, do not require as much TM control while fishing in windy conditions and or rough water. I guess that is the give and take with gas prices today. Charging TM batteries is cheap if you have to work a boat a bit more. Anyway, his i-class was sent back to the factory in TX (AGAIN – THIS IS second time in less than a year) and was just returned about 3 weeks ago…it had a long list of repair items (rod locker problems, electrical problems, gel coat problems, live well problems, trailer fenders coming off, trailer lights and harness came off, etc). Granted, this guy fishes more than most but the boats he has owned, struggles to keep up with him. This is not to bash the company, just sharing experiences. I purchased a new BCB and the only challenge I had was a rod locker that leaked and it was repaired. Other than that, I never got to take advantage of the “bumper to bumper” warrenty that came with the boat. Good luck in finding a boat that fits you.
I have had a similar experience to Joeys. One of Skeeters team members has asked me to be on the team but my gut tells me to look around since I have had many issues with my Yamaha and the boat. When you purchase a boat that costs as much as they do I expect a certian level of quality and customer service. im getting some final issues taken care of and will then look for a dealer who would consider taking a 2007 21i in on trade. Thanks for the info. Mark
If you need to speak to this gent, I would be more than happy to give you his number. Granted, the company has come through to repair his issues, but it is a matter of losing his time on the water. A couple of times, he has taken his boat in with a list of items to repair, and it usually comes back with the company missing a few items neeed to be fixed. In one instance, electrical problems killed his tournament fish. His only option is Yama. I swear, every one he has goes in for blown heads. I prefer to purchase from a boat company that allows one to own a motor that one prefers!!!! THIS IS A USA for Gods Sake!!!
Could you please have him email me at bass84737@aol.com. There are some things that I would like to speak with him about. Thank you for your time Mark
Mark, I just sent you an email. Feel free to give me a call if you would like to talk in a more private setting. Take Care and Good Luck with your decision !! Joey Watts
