Mercury gearcase

What is the difference in a 2010 model 250 pro XS gear case and the newer version......gear ratio....... style of gear cut used.....bearing size ? Is there a performance difference or just a change made to increase durability ?Don

The new Torque Master(wingmaster) has another horizontal plate midsection, and the same performance water pick ups etc,,,, 1.75/1 ratiosThe Verado case is also used on some optimaxs.Last edited by dbasketman on November 20th, 2014, 12:56 am, edited 2 times in total.

The Verado case is also 5/8″ longer and the skeg is not as heavy duty and is not angled. Other than the big prop shaft, I dont know if there are any real differences internally. Both are very reliable gear cases. The Torquemaster is generally a little faster than the Verado in tenths or mph. The Torquemaster can withstand higher mph (up to 85) without blowing out where the Verado can blow out around 82 or so.
