Used BassCat Prices For Potential Buyer

Im new to this forum and Im sure this has been asked many times before but couldnt find it after searching. Im looking for a very clean, used boat and leaning heavily towards a BassCat. I cant find one locally but looking out of state and will be traveling a lot in less than two weeks so Ive got a couple picked out to possibly look at. Question is, how are used boat prices figured? Is NADA a good place to start? I havent had a just in many years but have had them in the past. Im very familiar with RV pricing but not used boats. One particular boat Im interested in is priced quite a bit above NADA average retail. I know the price depends a lot on supply/demand, options, and the condition of the boat but I want a nice boat at a fair price and definitely dont want to overpay. Ill typically drive anywhere for the right condition at the right price. Im very picky so only want a pristine condition boat. I understand it wont be perfect buying used but I want one thats been taken very well care of. Thanks for any suggestions and if this is ousted in the wrong area please feel free to move it. NADA is an OK place to start but it really gives just the bare bones value (boat, motor, trailer). It doesnt really factor in value/price for accessories like electronics, power pole/talon, batteries, or other options for the boat/motor. Best way to see if youre getting a good deal is to search the internet (bassboatcentral.com is good for bass boats) as well as the boats for sale section here. When you see a model you like, try and compare prices for boats currently being sold for that model. Even check dealer sites for some of the large dealers in the country. Youll know pretty quick if your possible boat is a good deal or not that way.

Looking/window shopping the used market over a elongated period of time should give you an idea of the typical ask ranges…

I would look at bassboatcentral.com, this forums sale page, and Phils page over at Impactfishing.com. Those will give you an idea, plus thats where youll find 90% of the Cats.

Just what are you looking for and what are you willing to spend?? If youre looking for a high-end premium boat, i.e. Puma FTD or Eyra you better be ready to plunk down any where between 45 – 55k depending on the year and model.

Thanks for the information, Ill do some more research and figure out exactly which one I want.My son is 15 and obsessed with fishing. He raced motocross for 8 years and I finally talked him out of it a year ago. Weve been fishing out of Hobie kayaks but I dont think thats going to cut it much longer. Hes trying to start a fishing team at his high school also. I think every high school around us has one except his but pretty sure thatll change soon. Hes working on starting one right now. I grew up fishing and its something we can do together like the dirt bikes so Im all for it also.

If I cant find the right 2005-2010 boat Ill get a newer model and understand Ill pay more for it. Im interested in two Sabres but the price difference seems to favor the newer model (2015) but it really depends on if theres any flexibility in the asking price. I have a 5th wheel toy hauler and which model boat I get may depend on whether I keep the 5th wheel or not. 5th wheel was bought new last September but I bought it at a great price. Id kinda like to get something in the $15,000-$20,000 range but will go higher if I cant justify the age/condition/price of an older boat vs. a newer one. Kinda a different topic but Im from Tennessee. Lakes were very nice there but Im not a fan of east Texas lakes. Shallow, stumps, nasty water, so I just cant see buying a $70,000 boat for the lakes around us. If I were somewhere else Id probably get a different model boat, most likely a new one. So, to really try and answer your question I prefer a very nice, clean, well taken care of boat in the $15,000-$20,000 range. If I cant find exactly what I want Ill go newer and higher in price if needed. I will say Im extremely picky but Im willing to travel to get what I want. What size lakes are you looking to be on? FYI, I just bought an 08 cougar Advantage elite with a 225 merc opti, 280 hrs in excellent shape. No electronics or poles and I paid 22k. I fish the Great Lakes often so I went with a 20 fter but all depends on your needs. The market has been slow in the early to mid 20k range for the last 6 months it seems,but there are some bots still for sale.Take a look at the Pantera 2 and pantera 4. The 4 was the initial boat I looked at but theyre hard to find especially in my area. Good luck! The searching can be frustrating but when you find it youll know. My girlfriend of says I love my boat more than her.. She could be right haha

I didnt state this but maybe itll help you guys inform me of really what models I should be focusing on. I want at least 18 feet in length, prefer dual console but its not a must have. Again, Im pretty new to the current bass boat scene and even newer to the BassCats so I welcome any suggestions. Ive emailed a guy several times about a 2003 Cougar in Austin but Ive yet to hear back. That seems to be the norm dealing with Craigslist ads. The condition of the boat is way more important than the price. I wont buy one in fair condition no matter the price.

So, they get very rough, at least they are rough compared to what I was accustomed to being from Tennessee. I hope I dont offend anyone but the only way I know how to put it is, they suck. But, I know its all relative and the fishing is good but Im not a huge fan of the lakes. We will travel around some and explore other lakes though. I could possibly be moving to Colorado in about a year but thats not definite.
