New Starting Battery

I need to replace my starting battery.  I have a Merc 250 Pro XS (so 1/K Cranking amps is “required”), a 9″ Helix and a 12″ Solix as well as other standard boat electronics.  I have a Continental now.  It’s been fine, just wondering what else would work.

That 31 series X2 battery in the post above has 1150 cca’s and a Reserve Capacity of 220 minutes.  One of the strongest batteries around. It’s a rebadged Northstar. You may have been looking at the 27 series, which does have 930 cca’s. The Odyssey 31 PC 2150 and the 31 Northstar  are two of the strongest starting batteries available. They also need a high quality charger.

I agree with everything said about the x2 battery.  It is a beast.  I am starting a 250 Opti, plus running 3 garmin graphs, livescope, power poles, etc.  What sold me is the non-prorated 4 year warranty.  Yes it’s pricy but, it is worth it.  fyi cold cranking amps are 1100, marine cranking amps are 1370.  That is off the group 31 information.  Plus the 10% off if you buy it on-line, of course you can do that right in the store.

I bought this battery 3-1/2 years ago. I run2 humminbirds and a garmin. 2017 Optimax Pro XS; no issues.

Can someone tell me the difference between COLD CRANKING AMPS and MARINE CRANKING AMPS? Looked at a battery that was 800 CCA but 1000 MCA

CCA vs. MCA: The two common power measurements are CCA (Cold Cranking Amps, the number of amps a battery can deliver for 30 seconds at 0°F while maintaining its voltage above 7.2 volts) and MCA (Marine Cranking Amps, similar but measured at 32°F instead of 0°F). The reason that MCA are 20–25% higher than the CCA is because batteries work better at higher temperatures.

Thanks catdude28, your right I was looking at their smaller battery.  Looks like the x2 might be in my boat soon.
