My good friend Roy got the fish of a life time for the Northeast. Got a nice write up here. Shawn Good is another friend and a founding member of our bass Club Rutland Bass now known as Champlain Valley Bass as of 2025. Roy spends a lot of time on the south lake, has a basic 18′ Skeeter 175HP with no live scope or even a 360 but he has great instinct and puts in long days. He does NOT fish tournaments, just fishes for the sport of it. I fish the areas he does and we’ve exchanged info for many years. He had earned the nick name “The Master” long before he put this Champlain monster in the books. It was pure coincidence and luck that Vermont’s main state fish biologist happened to be on the water and have his measuring/testing equipment on his boat. Hope you enjoy the story and photos.
