Kid at the gas dock

I thought I'd share a neat story some of your present and past pros who fished Lake Champlain will appreciate.  Back several years ago, when Buoy 39 Marina just south of Fort Ticonderoga had a gas dock, many launching out of Plattsburg would stop to fuel up.  If you remember, grandma and grandpa the owners always had a kid who helped the pit stop type service you received to get you in and out in a hurry.  John Lowell is his name. He is young man now with a good job and still has the passion for bass fishing.  He won at St Lawrence BFL a week or so ago as a co-angler.   He has done pretty good in local tournaments as well as our bass club Champlain Valley B.A.S.S. club formally known as Rutland Bass the largest club in VT.  He's won our title at least once, he started with us when he was just 14 or 15. The "boys on hill" us who are really old men who own camps at Buoy 39 have watched and helped him over the years with everything from teaching him how to use a bait caster to  choosing baits or managing a tournament day more recently as a boater.  He of course, like his mentors, is now a Bass Cat owner (I just ordered him a hat today).  On the hill is a Puma STS, Puma FTD, John's Puma advantage, and my 2020 Caracal.  BTW, BCB is becoming one of the most popular boats south lake.   Yesterday he didn't have a great day out of Plattsburg but helped the son of another Bass Cat owner when his Merc blew a water line on his Ranger.  John happened to come across him when he was broke down on the water and being the person he is stopped make sure he was OK. Chris had a good almost 20lb bag so really needed to get back on time.  Putting four big men and full live wells he took on 4 footers and raced for Plattsburg.  They made it but were 1 minute late that hurt but the old 2007 Puma got them home almost on time though some blood was shed and backs were sore for sure! Anyway, he's come a long way from the kid on the gas dock and thought some of guys might like to hear about it and follow along.  Below are a couple links to check out if you want to.  He doesn't know I'm submitting this.  It will be a little surprise for him along with the hat.  I told him about Quest program and that he would have pick up some cash from it he had joined plus wore some gear.  Advised him he needs to add Bass Cat to his sponsor shirt on his next order too.
