Live Well Question

2022 Puma Live well question… I generally catch and release, so I have not used my live wells to keep fish since buying the boat in August 2025. Yesterday I caught a few walleyes and decided I would fillet them. I turned the Flow Right live well handle from Empty to Auto expecting that the Auto position would seal the water in the live well. I then pushed the manual fill on the wells and set the aerator to 5.  Once I was done fishing for the day, I turned the aerator off. When I took the boat out of the water, there was a small amount of water coming out of the left, black live well drain on the back of the boat. Unfortunately, by the time I got home, the live wells were empty. The Auto position should close the valve so that no water escapes, correct? Also, if I were to use the recirculation pump that may potentially burn up the pump if there’s no water in the live well to recirculate. In essence, is the live well flow open in the Empty position and closed in the Auto position? Is my thinking correct on the live well order I followed? Thanks for any help or explanation.
