What is the top GPS speed on a 2011 Pantera 2 with a 200 xs Mercery
BassCat always states on the low side, but there are several on this board with PII that usually run low-mid 70s.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
The fastest I have seen with mine is 72. I am running a 25 Tempest Plus prop. I am amazed at the fuel efficiency of this rig. I have been 3 trips on less than 10 gallons of fuel.Carky
I have a 2008 Pantera Classic. 200 Optimax with a 26P Trophy Plus. I got 72 straight from the dealer with no tweaking. I dont run it hard as I am not a tournament fisherman anymore. I agree with the earlier post about fuel economy. I feel like the combination of the light hull and the 200 Optimax was the best rig for fuel economy and still be able to run with the gas guzzlers if I wanted to occasionally.Good luck.2Sport

Hes very experienced and has endeavors of breaking 77 with his late model PII. I wouldnt bet against him. Not sure on the prop but he should find this thread and comment. PIIs are one heck of a boat with tremendous upside. Last edited by Flyswatter on March 17th, 2011, 1:35 am, edited 1 time in total.

The only difference in the two is that the rev limiter is set a little higher on the Pro XS if Im not mistaken. The motors still got more left in it but I dont know if the gearcase design is going to let it get past 76mph. But I will be carefully attempting more speed, and higher engine heights, and more prop pitch though it may be next winter. Bama96 with his P II Yamaha SHO combination has broken 77!
i have a 2009 PII with a 200 op. on it as well…straight from the dealer it runs 74mph with just me and a tournament load..71mph with 2 people and a tournament load..26 tempest is on it right now…just got a fury the other day and havent tried it yet but im hoping for just a little more.
Hey Gchagler, Your motor is a Pro XS, just order a Pro XS sticker, and Poof its a 200 Pro XS……that motor has always run on the HOT side of 10%, like most Big Block 200s, the companys find it hard to tune them down to a actual 200hp and yet get good clean emmisions…As Swatter knows the 200 SHO is not 200, the 200 HO is not 200hp, etc….SO Gchagler get you some Stickers made at Iguana and better yet, have them color matched to your Kitty for ultimate personalization…..Brannon
I think BCB answered my question on my Opti 200 and that Merc and the others were pretty much putting out 220hp on the 200s. The 225s at like 237, and 250 pushing 275 and so on. Somewhere I think I read the Merc 200 XS had a tad more aggressive reed system but otherwise same power plant. I like the power the Opti puts out but enjoy the fuel economy just as much. At 55mph and under this thing just sips gas even when running 87 oct with ethanol. Credit to hull and motor. Might be important this coming season if it ever gets here with these fuel prices. Hey, most of the snow is gone at least and it might just hit 60 today. Wooo hooo!

Mercury did not raise the limiter so there is no difference between my motor and the Pro XS. The reason for this is the motor makes too much horse power above 5750 rpms to keep it in the 200hp class which is over 10% if Im not mistaken.
