I have been lurking this forum and BBC for the past 6 months or so trying to decide on which brand of boat I want next and I have decided on BassCat. I am looking really hard at a 11 PII with a 200 ProXS. It seems to me that in the 19ft class of boats this boat has a very strong following. I would like to see if any of you guys that have experience with this boat have any negative opinions about it because I cant find any on the internet! If I get this boat it will have a dual axle trailer, step, pole, dual console.Few more questions:- What is the length of the front deck from the trolling motor well (where the carpet ends) to the end of the carpet of the first storage lid above the step.- What is the width of the deck measuring from inside to inside at the widest point.- When does BassCat start rolling out 2012 models? (I see that some manufacturers have already released 12 models)- Are there any rumors of any changes to the PII for 2012?- Rod strap preference – bungee or velcro? I have always used the rod buckles but I see BC does not like to use these.- Prop – I would like to put a fury on it. I see guys running 24-26p on this hull. – Trolling motor – I see that most are running 80lb trolling motors. I was originally thinking of putting a 101 on but would this be overkill?Any other opinions or options are appreciated.
I personally think a 101 is overkill for this boat and I fish the Mississippi River.
I have no negative comments on the 2011 PII. Here are the measurements on my boat:–What is the length of the front deck from the trolling motor well (where the carpet ends) to the end of the carpet of the first storage lid above the step–5 1″ (61 inches)–What is the width of the deck measuring from inside to inside at the widest point–68 1/2 inches (5 8 1/2 ” measured at the end of the rod lock just in front of the console)–2012 models–may want to check with BCB on this, but I believe it is the end of July or first of August for the next year models–I have no preference on rod straps on this boat. One advantage I had years ago with velcro is if it wears out, you can always clamp it together with a pair of hemostats until you can replace it. Not sure this will work with a bungee. –For the prop, talk with Chris Hagler (gchagler on the owners board). There are several good prop options including the fury and the tempest plus. I personally love the tempest plus, but I do not see some of the upper numbers some owners have. Well pleased with what I have and overall performance.–I can not imagine the need for 101# thrust unless you have unusually strong currents to deal with. The 75 lb thrust is MORE than enough for the reservoirs we frequent–Wedowee, Martin, Eufaula and West Point.Good luck in your decision,Carky FreemanLast edited by cef1965 on June 20th, 2011, 4:33 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Waknbass15, I dont have any negative comments on the P II either. Is a great boat and I think Its the best all around boat BCB makes for the average fisherman.-Not sure on any measurements or when the 12s will be out.-I think BCB is now offering the buckle type rod straps but I may be wrong. The velcro are said to be the best in rough water but other than that I would rather have the buckle type though they are probable the worst to have if you take a wave over the bow.-I think for the all around best prop the 25 Fury is gonna be the best but you may touch the limiter with it in the cold weather.-I run a 101 M/K not so much for wind or current but b/c I fish shallow stump fields alot and it helps to drag over stumps instead of getting hung up on them.Go ahead and pull that trigger, I promise you wont be sorry!!
I have both the velcro and the bungees on my Jag. Just attach 1 end of the bungee to the screw holding the velcro and stick the other end in the velcro bracket. The reason I have both is because when it gets rough I dont want a $400rod & reel going over the side so I use the velcro. Most time I use the bungee for convenience. Also I have a 82 lb.MG on my 20 foot boat and it is plenty.Johnny
Thanks for all the comments. I was also wondering if you guys are familiar with Plano Prolatch XL boxes and if they would fit in any of the compartments of the PII. I have been using these for all my plastic storage the PII storage looks a little more chopped up and may not fit them.
I have to agree with all the post above that I love my 08 PII. As for those boxes they may fit in the first compartment by the cooler and if not then they will fit in the compartment by the bow with no problem. It is a lot bigger then you think it is since it extends up under the deck a pretty good bit.

Also, I think the PII will fish longer not bigger often confused with wider because of the bow forward TM well. You gain about 12″ of forward deck space because of it. So inside the boat it fishes length wise in comparison to competing 20 boats. I can promise your coangler will appreciate that when your chunking crankbaits with 7.5 to 8 rods.
Nothing negative for my 2011… 80#fortrex jerks the boat all over the place and handled significant current easily. 26 fury so far is amazing. have dropped bout 200rpm due to crazy heat/humidity down here in Louisiana but nothing on performance. Love the bungies…..My velcros have worn out in the past and get to lookin “old” after awhile in other boats. Have “learned” the boat and now drivin chine-free @72+……If i didnt own one id say almost too good to be true!
Well I have made my decision and will be giving the OK today. I am going with the 80lb fortrex. The boat currently has a 24p fury on it which may suit my needs since I usually carry everything I own in it and it should have really good hole shot with it. I have tried to do a little searching to see what kind of topend I can expect with this prop. I am assuming 68-70? If you guys were me would you try to swap for a 25? How is the holeshot for you guys who run the 25 fury?
