2018 Caracal drain plug

Unscrewed the new style drain plug and found 1  O ring had fallen off. Since the plug has 2 O rings I think the entire setup has to be replaced. Since I got the boat this plug has been a problem. Grit gets into the threads and at time its difficult to remove. BCB what do you think ?

The drain plug on my 2018 Caracal is a pain also.  Not only is it difficult to unscrew but mine leaked also. I had to remove the fitting and reseal it.

We add the second O-ring to prevent the screw in part from vibrating out. Just stick another Oring on it.

BCB Thanks, But are you saying that the plug is removable. Mine seems like it is stuck in there. If removable then its a no brainer. I have not tried to force it and /or work it out. It just seemed that it was meant to stay in. Thanks for any help. BTW the old time  plugs were easier, just had to remember to install LOL. Thanks Again

Grit and grime (sand) locks into the threads and makes them hard to remove. A water hose held to the rear as you unscrew it will remove the threaded plug. It flushes the coarse threads as it moves. The seals are just common O-rings and slip on. A new part is not real expensive in the case that someone has messed up the thumb screw handle or threads. We have seen both in a couple of cases.

I got it removed, found clipped off cable ties and another ” O” ring. I usually leave the plug to drain on long trips and in when stored in garage. I did not know it was removable, could have lost it during travels, luckly did not. All is good. Thanks BCB

That was our concern which is why we added the second o-ring.
