Here is my experience with a 27 Fury on an 06 Puma/250 XS. First, some background information is important. Most of my use is just above sea level and I am a lightweight that runs a light load, even in tournaments. Initally, the motor was rigged with a 26 Trophy. Unfortunately, with the 26 Trophy I was popping the limiter on a regular basis. As a result I went up to a 27 Trophy (stock) and B&B 28 Trophy (PA special). The hole-shots and mid-range were what everybody expeciences. In addition, the top-end was in the ballpark of what folks like PA are realizing. So there is some background relative to my expecience with the other props and pitches. Now my experience with the Fury 27. As advertised and reported by most, the hole-shot is truly amazing as is the accelaration. I remember my first run with the prop. I was at 80 in a blink of an eye. Others have talked about the lift, and yes that will blow your mind. From an rpm perspective, both the Fury 27 and Trophy 27 are turning at about 6000. Here is the catch, for me the Fury is not the best prop for tournament-load top-end speeds. I am actually running 2 mph faster with the stock 27 Trophy. Yes, the Fury does get me out of the hole faster with a tournament-load; however, for me coming out of the hole is not as important as top-end speed. Where I fish, we usually have to make long runs from tournament launch sites. A 2 mph difference is significant when you and a large portion of the tournament field are running 30 plus miles to start a day in the same areas. So, now the Fury sits in one of the storage compartments as my spare.
